Can I go ashore independently?

Exploration is a big part of your cruise holiday with Fred. Olsen, so we encourage you to go shoreside whether independently or on a tour. We will advise guests of any destinations that cannot be explored independently, where you need to be in possession of the relevant visas.

Your cruise fare is fully inclusive of port taxes and charges, so as soon as the ship is cleared by customs and immigration, you are free to get on and off the ship as many times as you wish. When the ship is berthed some distance from the centre, a convenient shuttle bus service is often provided to save you money on taxi fares. All key information will be communicated to guests prior to arrival in the port via The Daily Times and announcements over the ships tannoy. Guests will also receive a printed 'Destination Guide' highlighting key attractions and top tips for each port of call on your cruise.

While exploring destinations on your own allows you to discover local cultures for yourself, we do recommend you consider our organised shore tours, specifically designed for you to see the very best that port has to offer. Our Destination Experiences Team will be delighted to discuss any queries you may have, and can be contacted on 01473 292 444 (option 2).

Our Tours team are available 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Please note: The ship cannot wait for the late return of any independent tours/transport you may be on.
