Which items am I prohibited from bringing on board?

The safety of you and our crew is always our number one priority. With this in mind, below is a list of items which are not allowed to come on board with you.

Electrical items

  • Electrical items are not permitted on board unless they are UKCA-marked (UK Conformity Assessed) and/or CE-marked (Conformité Européenne)
  • A maximum of two batteries/power banks are permitted per person (maximum permitted effect - 100Wh = 27.000 mAh)
  • Multi-plug devices, including extension leads, power strips, cube adaptors and surge protectors are not permitted
  • Single adaptor plugs are permitted, provided they are UKCA/CE-marked
  • All electrical equipment (including cables/wires) must be free from physical damage

  • IMPORTANT: Please do not leave electrical items plugged in unattended. Any unattended electrical item may be disconnected by a member of crew for safety reasons
  • Exemption: Single inlet-single outlet extension cords may be permitted only when required for personal medical equipment, such as CPAP machines

    If you need to bring a CPAP machine, please get in touch with Guest Services before travelling, and we're ensure an extension lead is provided on board.

Items with heating elements or open flames

  • Items that generate heat or produce an open flame are not permitted on board. This includes butane powered/heated equipment - including hair straighteners (normal hair straighteners are permitted) heated blankets, electric heaters, clothing irons, hotplates, candles, incense and any other item that may create a fire hazard

  • Exemption: Electric curling tongs and hair dryers are allowed (maximum permitted effect - 1500W/110V and 2000W/220V)

Drugs or other illegal substances

  • No illegal drugs or other illegal substances are allowed on board, and their use is strictly prohibited during your holiday, including during transfers to and from ships, inside terminals and on shore tours. Illegal drugs or substances will be confiscated and appropriate action taken, which may include removal from the ship and the involvement of the appropriate authorities.

Weapons, Explosives and other dangerous items

  • Weapons, explosives, or any other item that, in the reasonable opinion of the company, presents a potential risk to people or property are not permitted on board. This includes (but is not limited to): Firearms or replica firearms, ammunition or explosive materials, knives, including Sgian Dubh knives with blades longer than 6cm.

Items containing incapacitating substances

  • This includes gas guns, tear gas sprays, mace, phosphorus, acid and any other item that contains other dangerous chemicals

Radios and Satellite equipment

  • Any piece of radio equipment that transmits on a separate network band or has a power output in excess of 5 watts

Knitting needles

  • Knitting needles are permitted to be carried on board. Please pack in your hand luggage as Port Security may remove them and pass them to the Ship's Crew who will give them back to you once on board.

Drones and flying objects

  • These are not permitted on our ships, regardless of size or propulsion system. Exemptions may be made, however, but you must have authorisation from us prior to your cruise.

Possession

  • A guest found to be in possession of any prohibited item may be subject to further action from the ship according to company or local port state procedures. This may include:
    The permanent confiscation of items, or, the guest being detained by Local Police Authorities, or, the prohibited items being securely held onboard for the duration of the cruise. (Receipt / Returns form to be completed)

Any other item that, in the reasonable opinion of the company, presents a risk of harm to persons or property are not permitted on board, will be confiscated by Ship's Security or Port Authorities, and appropriate action taken.
