Your cruise at a glance

Hand-crafted highlights

On this two-week cruise to Northern Norway, you may be lucky enough to see the dancing lights of the Aurora Borealis illuminate the night sky while cruising in the Arctic Ocean and ashore during extended stays in Tromsø and Alta. After experiencing the maritime tradition of crossing the Arctic Circle, enjoy an overnight stay in the ‘Gateway to the Arctic’, Tromsø, before heading to Alta, ideal for husky sledding tours and spending time with local Sámi people to experience their way of life. Wrap up warm and enjoy time out on the decks of Borealis with our experts from Go Stargazing, who will be on board to assist you with learning more about the many constellations out in the universe.

Highlights

Northern Lights over Tromso

Go in search of the Aurora Borealis

Your cruise on board Borealis will offer you a number of opportunities to witness the elusive Aurora Borealis in Northern Norway. As you cruise beyond the Arctic Circle, wrap up warm and join us on deck to enjoy uninterrupted views with minimal light pollution, while extended stays in both Alta and Tromsø are ideal for leaving the city behind to explore snow-covered landscapes with knowledgeable local guides on hand to take you to the best viewing locations to look for ribbons of green and pink as they streak magically across the sky.

Husky sledding

Immerse yourself in winter friluftsliv

Experience winter in Northern Norway by immersing yourself in the concept of friluftsliv, deeply engrained in Norwegian culture and identity. Spending time outdoors is a natural way of living here, whatever the season or weather, so when in Alta, embark on a dog sledding adventure into the wilderness on your very own husky sleds as experienced drivers take you through snow-covered pine forests. Meanwhile, in Tromsø, meet with the local Sámi community and learn about their distinct language, traditional clothing, music, and folklore, as well as their livelihoods of fishing, hunting, and reindeer herding. You may also have the chance to spend time feeding the reindeer and hearing stories about daily life for the Sámi in the comfort of a warm lavvu tent.
