A Fred. Olsen cruise holiday is always relaxing, but there are also opportunities to explore new places and meet new people. In fact, we can't think of a better way to see so much in one cruise holiday.
Our cruises have been carefully designed to show you as many interesting destinations as possible, from pretty little villages perched cliff-side in the Norwegian Fjords, to European capital cities. So that you can get the most out of your experiences ashore, we offer a range of half and full-day Shore Tours in almost all ports of call.
You can view, plan and book your shore tours from approximately four weeks prior to your cruise. You will receive an email to your registered email address once tours are viewable and bookable via your My Cruises account.
Making the most of your time ashore
A wide range of tours suit all interests and tastes, from gentle panoramic sightseeing tours to energetic adventure tours! If you would like to try something different which is not listed in the tour programme for your cruise, please do not hesitate to contact our Destination Experience department on 01473 746 163 to discuss your requirements (Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00hrs).
We will liaise with the local tour provider on your behalf. Where possible entrance tickets this purchased in advance, so you do not lose valuable time queuing. The local tour providers also look to negotiate special opening times when required, so you can visit those important attractions that may be typically closed on certain days.
You can relax whilst we make it happen
Booking a tour through Fred. Olsen means you can be certain that guides and transportation will be waiting for you on the quayside, allowing you to make the most of your time in the destination. In the event your tour is delayed in returning to the port, our ship will still be waiting for you.
Although cruise itineraries are planned in advance some unforeseen circumstances can sometimes result in an itinerary change. Rest assured that if this should occur we will refund any pre-booked tours that you miss and the tour provider will endeavour to put a new programme of activities in place for the revised port of call, ensuring you still enjoy your cruise.
Planning with you in mind
Detailed descriptions for each tour allows you to judge if the tour is right for you before you decide to book, and with a variety of tours on offer, you are sure to find something of interest, whether you are travelling alone or with others.

Covid protocols for shore excursions
Will I be able to leave the ship in port if I have not booked a shore excursion?
All explorations ashore will be subject to local restrictions in the destinations that we visit. We will also be following the latest guidance from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). If there are concerns about infection rates at any of the destinations, we will return to only allowing guests ashore via our organised shore excursions in those areas.
What measures will be taken to keep guests and crew safe on board for guests returning from independent explorations ashore?
All guests who venture ashore will be required to follow any restrictions in that port of call, which will be communicated to guests before we arrive in the destination. We will also provide all guests with information on any local Covid measures or expectations to allow you to make the most of your time ashore safely. All guests will have their temperature scanned when getting back on board.
Will there be any destinations where you won’t allow guests to go ashore independently?
At present we are not aware of any destinations where guests are not able to head ashore independently. Of course, if we are made aware of any changes in the destinations you are due to visit on your cruise we will let you know.
Will you still be offering shore excursions in the ports of call?
We know that many guests prefer to explore as part of an organised excursion. Of course, we will continue to offer a selection of bookable shore excursions for all of our sailings.
We will send you a Journey Guide with all of the available shore excursions prior to your cruise setting sail, and you will be able to book these in advance of your cruise.
We will, of course, adhere to the latest guidance from the UK government and the destinations that we are visiting at the time of sailing.
Guests will also be able to explore ashore independently in the destinations that allow us to offer this.
