Bolette

Your cruise at a glance

Hand-crafted highlights

In less than a week, you can enjoy a taste of the Faroes and a visit to the remote Isle of Lewis, making for the perfect spring Bank Holiday getaway. Bolette will sail past the beguiling sites of Fingal’s Cave with its hexagonally-shaped basalt columns, bonnet-shaped Bac Mòr, and the Small Isles archipelago. Your time ashore is set to be equally rewarding, as Stornoway is ideal for immersing yourself in Gaelic culture and the traditions of the Western Isles, such as crofting, weaving, visiting a local whisky distillery, or discovering the history of Harris Tweed. The Faroese capital of Tórshavn, named after the Norse god of thunder, Thor, is your gateway to uncovering fascinating culture as well as rugged scenery formed over many centuries by volcanic activity.

Highlights

Bolette cruising past Dutchman's cap

Scenic Islands & Coastlines

Scotland is home to some of the most beautiful islands and coastlines in the UK, and as Bolette cruises northwards from Liverpool, you'll be able to admire the picturesque Hebridean island of Iona before diverting to close to Fingal's Cave, whose dramatically symmetrical basalt columns hold tales of folklore and legend. Rising from the sea off the coast of Skye, Bac Mòr, known as Dutchman's Cap due to its unusual shape, stands as a testament to the power of Mother Nature. Bolette will also sail past the Small Isles of Rum, Eigg, Muck, and Canna, where you'll witness their unspoiled landscapes, and en route to Tórshavn, the rugged beauty of the Vestmanna Seacliffs will enchant you with their deep grottoes and caves.

Harris Tweed

Scottish Island Traditions

As Bolette cruises to the islands of Scotland, absorb yourself in local customs, like participating in a Ceilidh dance, enjoy discovering how Harris Tweed is made, or hear folktales about mermaids, trolls, sea spirits, and selkies to uncover the rich heritage of Gaelic culture in Stornoway. You may also wish to visit the Isle of Harris distillery and learn how the Hearach Dram is produced. Meanwhile, when you are in Tórshavn, experience the Faroes vibrant national identity through traditional clothing and the kvaeði chain dance, or sample the locally produced salt-cured fish, known as Saltfiskur.
