Highlights

Scenic cruising in Lysefjord, Norway

Exploring mountainous landscapes

This Borealis cruise has been designed to showcase the magnificent fjords of Norway. Ancient glaciers have sculpted deep, narrow fjords flanked by towering cliffs, offering breathtaking panoramas. The long and narrow Lysefjord, which stretches for about 26 miles, is home to Preikestolen, or Pulpit Rock, which juts out over the fjord and is 604 meters tall. Maurangerfjord, featuring verdant cliffs and calm fjord waters, is a lesser-known and tranquil jewel among the Norwegian fjords, and is home to the impressive Furebergfossen waterfall, which cascades into the fjord below. Langfoss Waterfall is surrounded by rich flora and steep cliffs, making it one of the ten most spectacular waterfalls in the world, so do join us on a tour to visit this awe-inspiring feat of nature. There will also be chances to enjoy scenic cruising of Hardangerfjord, lined with apple orchards and picturesque villages, and Ulvikafjord with lush greenery and deep, calm waters.

Kayaking in the Norwegian fjords

Friluftsliv

The Norwegian concept of Friluftsliv loosely translates as embracing spending time outdoors and connecting with nature for a sense of well-being and to lead a balanced life. With this in mind, spend time with us on a hike through the pristine wilderness of the Norwegian Fjords, immersing yourself in breathtaking landscapes of steep mountains and lush forests. You will have the chance to kayak on the crystal-clear still waters of the Hardangerfjord from Eidfjord, explore the apple orchards that frame the water's edge; or discover the art of foraging with a knowledgeable local.

Haraldshaugen monument

Powerful Viking History

One of Norway's most significant regions for cultural history includes Haugesund. On this Borealis cruise, you'll have the opportunity to discover the history behind the Haraldshaugen Monument, believed to be the resting place of King Harald Hårfagre (Harald Fairhair) who was the first Viking King of Norway. From Eidfjord, explore the Hæreid Iron Age Burial Site with us, where part of the cultural landscape here has been formed by the largest collection of ancient burial sites in western Norway, found by following a countryside walk alongside a tumbling river.
