Borealis

Your cruise at a glance

Hand-crafted highlights

We have planned this cruise to Norway during summertime, so there’s a better chance of finer weather and more opportunities to enjoy activities within the natural surroundings of the fjords. In Flåm, you could join a boat tour along the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord or ride the Flåm Railway, regarded as one of the best train journeys on Earth. Eidfjord is your gateway to Hardangervidda – the largest mountain plateau in northern Europe – and the Vøringfoss Waterfall, while in Bergen, you can hike atop Mount Fløyen with a local. Several Scenic Discoveries feature too, including Maurangerfjord – courtesy of a special diversion to see the sprawling Fureberg Waterfall, and the picturesque Nordfjord.

Highlights

Discover beautiful fjord landscapes

On this cruise aboard Borealis, join us as we discover the beauty of our homeland's fjord landscapes. From Flåm, enjoy a scenic cruise along Nærøyfjord, where you’ll have the opportunity to take in views of towering mountains, cascading waterfalls, and tiny villages dotted alongside the water's edge. From Olden, experience the awe-inspiring Briksdal Glacier, whose bright blue hues shimmer between the deep gorges of rugged mountains, while Nordfjord is home to lush valleys and Europe's highest cliff, Hornelen. Borealis will take you on a diversion into Maurangerfjord so that you can experience the thundering beauty of Fureberg Waterfall from the unique position of being on board your cruise ship. Each fjord you visit offers sheer cliffs, crystal clear waters and luxurious landscapes, telling stories of ancient ice ages and geological wonders.

Experience outdoor living

The Norwegian concept of outdoor living and spending time outside is known as Friluftsliv, and encompasses a lifestyle of connecting with nature through being active. With this in mind, join us on tours to hike through rugged landscapes, such as climbing to the summit of Mount Fløyen in Bergen for outstanding views across the fjords below and along tree-lined paths, en route to a local farm to discover more about rural life and practices in Norway; or from Flåm, enjoy a scenic train journey on the famous railway before a thrilling bike ride down the mountain, through the spectacular Flåmsdalen Valley, and past cascading waterfalls. You will also have the opportunity to go kayaking, explore the Hardanger Juice and Cider Factory in Eidfjord, or try your hand at crayfishing.
