Thanks to the long, dark nights during the winter months here, the colourful Aurora can often be seen dancing across the clear night sky. We have included calls into Tromsø, also known as the gateway to the Arctic, and Alta to afford you plenty of opportunities to seek out the mesmerising lights ashore, while the decks of Balmoral provide the perfect setting to witness them at sea, should they decide to make an appearance.

Disembarking when your ship's at anchor is a very different experience to when it's docked portside. Getting ashore in this instance often involves the use of the ship's tender, which is accessed via the steps of a secure gangway.
