Northern Spain's way of life

There will be many chances for you to experience the local way of life and learn about the rich Galician culture throughout your cruise. Asturian sidra, a traditional cider with a crisp flavor and low alcohol content, and often poured theatrically from a great height, may be tasted in Gijón, while Getxo is your starting point to the verdant vineyards of the Basque Country, one of Spain's most recognised wine areas and home to some of the best Rioja wine. During your Northern Spain cruise, you will also have the opportunity to try some of the region's speciality foods, including Pintxos - tapas like snacks, empanadas, savoury pies or pastries filled with a delicious combination of ingredients and Pulpo a la Gallega, a traditional dish featuring octopus cooked in olive oil and paprika. You will also have the chance to discover Euskara, a traditional way of speaking in the Basque Country and said to be the oldest living language in Europe.
