Hand-crafted highlights

Our team has designed this cruise from Portsmouth to showcase some of Spain’s most striking landmarks. You’ll have chances to see Palma’s Gothic Cathedral, the futuristic complex of the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, the Roman Theatre in Cartagena, and the Moorish fortress and beautiful gardens of the Alcazaba of Málaga. Embrace the Spanish way of life, known as ‘la vida Española’, which encompasses a love for good food, conversation, celebration and a strong sense of community. You can indulge in the bold flavours of Andalusian tapas, sample warming Jerez sherry, experience the raw passion of flamenco dancing, and try authentic paella in Valencia, the city where it originated; before you arrive back into Southampton.

Highlights

Roman Amphitheater In Cartagena, Spain

Striking Spanish Landmarks

Your cruise aboard Borealis will take you to iconic cities which are home to some of Spain's most striking landmarks. The Roman Theatre in Cartagena is the jewel in the city's crown, and was hidden for centuries below layers of buildings from the Byzantine, Moorish and Christian ages. The Tower of Hercules In La Crouna is the only fully preserved Roman lighthouse still used for maritime signaling; while in Cadiz, the blend of Baroque and Neo-classical style architecture in the Cathedral beckons exploration. You'll also have opportunities to explore the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, and the historic Belém Tower when you're in Lisbon.

Patatas bravas, Spanish potato dish with sauce

Living La Vida Española

This cruise aboard Borealis showcases how life in Spain embodies a love for good food, lively conversations, celebrations, and a strong sense of community. Indulge in Andalusian tapas, featuring bold flavours like Patatas Bravas (fried potatoes with a spicy sauce), Gambas al Ajillo (garlic-infused prawns) and crispy Tortillitas de Camarones (shrimp fritters) along with the warming taste of Jerez sherry. In Ibiza, experience the laid-back Bohemian culture and watch the colourful hues of the iconic sunset. In Barcelona, wander along La Rambla as it buzzes with street life, while FC Barcelona's Nou Camp is a symbol of community spirit and passion. In Valencia, be sure to try Paella in the city where it originated, and taste the delicious blend of rice, meats, and seafood all cooked in the large shallow Paella pan that the dish owes its name to.

San Sebastian Festival

Your cruise aboard Borealis has been perfectly timed for you to experience the San Sebastian Festival in Palma. Every year, San Sebastian celebrates its patron saint's day with a huge fiesta. One of the main attractions of this occasion is the Tamborrada drum parade, which was first hosted in 1836 as part of the carnival. Legend says that the soldiers who were marching through the city daily were being mocked by the residents, but the Tamborrada parade has now grown to be a beloved yearly ritual where the drummers wear the same uniforms as the soldiers who were stationed in the city, and is an event not to be missed.
