Experience the beauty and diversity of some of the Mediterranean’s most enchanting destinations, from culture-rich cities to regions famed for their summertime splendour, on a very special journey of discovery. A specially-timed call at the French city of Marseille is the centrepiece; during your time here, you’ve an opportunity to tour to the beautiful Luberon region of Provence for an unforgettable experience. Provence comes to life in the summer, when fragrant lavender fields burst into bloom, and after passing through quaint villages en route, and you might be lucky enough to see the fields at their resplendent best. Alternatively, opt to stay in Marseille and explore. Braemar has special permission to dock at La Jolliette, so there’s plenty to discover from the moment you go ashore, from the markets, boutiques and galleries near the port to the highlights of the city’s historic heart, such as Notre Dame de la Garde Basilica and Cathédrale de la Major.[ReadMore]

On the French Riviera, there’s a chance to revel in all the glitz and glamour of Monaco, as you take in the iconic marina, packed with multi-million-pound superyachts, famous hotels and casinos and streets which are used for the famous Formula One circuit. Away from mainland France, there’s also a visit to Corsica; Propriano is your gateway to Bonifacio, with its ancient old town, citadel and scenic clifftop landscapes. Elsewhere, sample a taste of Mediterranean island life on Menorca, where inviting beaches, picturesque landscapes and pretty Mahon await, and uncover the scenic beauty and rich history of Portoferrario – famed for its links to Napoleon – on the Italian island of Elba. You’ll also get to delight in the sights and highlights of Cádiz, on Spain’s sunlit Andalusian coast; Portugal’s captivating capital, Lisbon; and Gibraltar.

In recent years, we have seen a new era emerging in cruising.

There is a trend for everything to get bigger and busier, and for a cruise to be seen as an alternative to a large luxury resort, with a limitless flurry of activity. But this is not for us. Find out more

1. WE ARE PROUD TO SAIL OUR OWN COURSE

We are free to do things a different way because we are family-run. Of course some people enjoy the bigger, busier cruises, but it is not for everyone, and it is not for us. We prefer to do things, 'The Olsen Way'.

2. SMALLER IS BETTER

We have fewer guests, so the atmosphere on board our ships is always warm and civilised. Our smaller ships allow us to visit the more interesting places that the world has to offer.

3. HAND-CRAFTED, NOT MASS PRODUCED

We pride ourselves on putting our all into the Fred. Olsen cruise experience. Our itineraries are created from scratch every year, our service is genuinely personal and each and every area of our ships is designed by hand.

Braemar is the shortest of Fred. Olsen's four smaller, friendly ocean-going cruise ships, with dimensions perfect for cruising picturesque, size-restricted rivers and docking in the heart of fascinating towns and cities.

Like the rest of the fleet, Braemar assumes the welcoming feel and intimacy of a country house hotel, and a sense of timeless style and elegance flows through the ship's comfortable bars and lounges, restaurants and spacious accommodation for up to 929 guests.
