Exploring Norway’s fjordland during summertime, when the landscapes are greener, the days are longer and there’s a chance of finer weather, makes for an unforgettable experience. You’ll get to fully appreciate the beauty and natural wonders of spellbinding fjords. On board Braemar, lose yourself in the peaceful scenes of verdant, forested hills and mountainous valleys as you sail the glassy waters of Hardangerfjord, Maurangerfjord, Sognefjord and Lustrafjord; and enjoy navigations of the scenic, size-restricted Karmsund Strait and Fjærlandsfjord. During your time in Maurangerfjord, you’ll witness the tumbling, crashing waters of Furebergfossen too.[ReadMore]

Unforgettable sights and experiences also await your discovery ashore. Within Hardangerfjord, during a visit to Eidfjord, you could join a kayaking adventure to look up at the fjord’s peaks and dramatic cliffs from a unique perpective. From Skjolden, there’s an opportunity to visit the land of the giants at Jutenheimen National Park – home to Norway’s two highest mountains, while Haugesund is your gateway to Langfoss, widely regarded as Norway’s best waterfall. Thanks to Braemar’s smaller dimensions, you’ll visit the pretty fjordland village of Farsund – not accessible to larger ships – and have time to stroll its pretty harbour and cosy streets.

In recent years, we have seen a new era emerging in cruising.

There is a trend for everything to get bigger and busier, and for a cruise to be seen as an alternative to a large luxury resort, with a limitless flurry of activity. But this is not for us. Find out more

1. WE ARE PROUD TO SAIL OUR OWN COURSE

We are free to do things a different way because we are family-run. Of course some people enjoy the bigger, busier cruises, but it is not for everyone, and it is not for us. We prefer to do things, 'The Olsen Way'.

2. SMALLER IS BETTER

We have fewer guests, so the atmosphere on board our ships is always warm and civilised. Our smaller ships allow us to visit the more interesting places that the world has to offer.

3. HAND-CRAFTED, NOT MASS PRODUCED

We pride ourselves on putting our all into the Fred. Olsen cruise experience. Our itineraries are created from scratch every year, our service is genuinely personal and each and every area of our ships is designed by hand.

Braemar is the shortest of Fred. Olsen's four smaller, friendly ocean-going cruise ships, with dimensions perfect for cruising picturesque, size-restricted rivers and docking in the heart of fascinating towns and cities.

Like the rest of the fleet, Braemar assumes the welcoming feel and intimacy of a country house hotel, and a sense of timeless style and elegance flows through the ship's comfortable bars and lounges, restaurants and spacious accommodation for up to 929 guests.
