Take in scenes of gorgeous French and Belgian countryside as Braemar – making the most of her smaller size – sails narrow, meandering waterways all the way to culture-rich, attraction-packed cities. In France, experience serene scenic cruising by the tree-lined banks of the Loire River en route to Nantes, and – as you sail between Rouen and Honfleur – see lush-green countryside and quaint communes along the Seine. You’ll also sail Belgium’s Western Scheldt River into Antwerp.[ReadMore]

Plenty of rewards await you ashore too. From Nantes you could venture to one of the famous vineyards sprawled across the picturesque Loire Valley. Alternatively, seek out highlights within Nantes – where Braemar docks in the city centre – such as Château des ducs de Bretagne and Cathédrale Saint-Pierre et Saint-Paul. Delve into the fascinating history of Rouen, amongst its charming cobbled streets and centuries-old gems, from the gothic cathedral to the medieval architecture of Place du Vieux-Marché; and in Honfleur, revel in the charms of Vieux Bassin. A visit to Antwerp is a chance to visit the famous Diamond District, sample authentic Belgian beers and chocolates, and much more.

In recent years, we have seen a new era emerging in cruising.

There is a trend for everything to get bigger and busier, and for a cruise to be seen as an alternative to a large luxury resort, with a limitless flurry of activity. But this is not for us. Find out more

1. WE ARE PROUD TO SAIL OUR OWN COURSE

We are free to do things a different way because we are family-run. Of course some people enjoy the bigger, busier cruises, but it is not for everyone, and it is not for us. We prefer to do things, 'The Olsen Way'.

2. SMALLER IS BETTER

We have fewer guests, so the atmosphere on board our ships is always warm and civilised. Our smaller ships allow us to visit the more interesting places that the world has to offer.

3. HAND-CRAFTED, NOT MASS PRODUCED

We pride ourselves on putting our all into the Fred. Olsen cruise experience. Our itineraries are created from scratch every year, our service is genuinely personal and each and every area of our ships is designed by hand.

Braemar is the shortest of Fred. Olsen's four smaller, friendly ocean-going cruise ships, with dimensions perfect for cruising picturesque, size-restricted rivers and docking in the heart of fascinating towns and cities.

Like the rest of the fleet, Braemar assumes the welcoming feel and intimacy of a country house hotel, and a sense of timeless style and elegance flows through the ship's comfortable bars and lounges, restaurants and spacious accommodation for up to 929 guests.
