Cruise Directors
Our Cruise Directors are a vitally important part of your holiday. Their role is to manage the entertainment teams on board our cruise ships as well as many other important aspects of your cruise. Often you will see them getting involved in daytime activities, and of course, at the evening shows.

Anthony Cranny
Raised in Wales, from a small town called Neath, Anthony (also known as Cranny) became part of the Fred. Olsen family in February 2022 and has loved every moment since. Prior to this, he worked for P&O Cruises and on private charters along the beautiful Croatian coast. From the start, what struck Anthony most about Fred. Olsen was the people, as he was made to feel welcome from his very first day on board, and every time he returns to one of our ships, he's greeted with familiar faces and warm smiles. The friendships he's built and the dedication of the crew around him have never failed to inspire him to give his best every day.
One of the most rewarding aspects of Anthony's role as Cruise Director is the opportunity to make a real difference in someone’s holiday experience. No two days are ever the same, and he finds joy in learning about the unique journeys each guest has taken to arrive with us. Helping someone fully immerse themselves in their cruise, and seeing the positive impact of our efforts, fills him with immense pride. For our guests, the most meaningful part of the job is being able to help them relax and simply enjoy every moment on board.
Throughout his time with Fred. Olsen, there have been countless memorable experiences for Anthony, including taking on new challenges, as it’s always exciting to try something different and work toward the best possible outcome for our guests. Interviewing Jim Moir (Vic Reeves) was a definite highlight, but it’s the day-to-day variety that keeps things exciting. One of his proudest career moments was when he had to step in and create a show for the Neptune Lounge at short notice, with both sittings ended with standing ovations, a night he’ll always remember.
When it comes to events onboard, Anthony loves hosting quizzes, although he's developed something of a reputation for making them a bit challenging! He particularly enjoys how much we can learn through quizzes (even if the information isn’t always practical!) Deck parties and charity events like auctions or crew swimming relays are also favourites, especially when they raise money for such worthy causes.
Anthony is particularly excited about returning to Croatia, as it was where he held his very first Cruise Director position, aboard a small yacht on the Dalmatian Coast, a part of the world that holds many fond memories for him. La Coruña also holds a special place in his heart as it was the first port he ever stepped into as a crew member. Every time we return, Anthony takes a quiet moment to reflect on how far he's come since that first visit.
Looking ahead, there are still places he'd love to explore, Asia is high on his list, especially Japan, with its rich history and pop culture, and when Anthony isn't working, he enjoys a quiet game of chess or a coffee in port, just watching the world go by. It’s those little moments of calm that help him recharge. Anthony is actually a second-generation Cruise Director, it runs in the family! He also has two dogs back home who are lovingly cared for by his family while he's away. And for those wondering, he's half Welsh and half English, something he's quite proud of!

Jack Harrison
Liverpool-born and raised, Jack has always felt a deep connection to the sea. Inspired by his grandad’s tales from years spent as a captain at sea, he was captivated by life on the waves and often imagined what it would be like to work aboard a ship. As a child, Jack had a passion for acting, appearing in various advertisements and even sharing the screen with the wonderful Imelda Staunton in a film (be sure to ask him to show you the photos!).
His love for entertainment and travel were ignited after a family cruise holiday, where he was enthralled by the on-board experience, leading him to apply for a role as an entertainment host at just 18 years old. This led to his first contract with Thomson Cruises in 2012 aboard Thomson Majesty, and he never looked back. Previous experience with Marella, NCL Cruises and Ambassador Cruise Line has ensured Jack has brought a wealth of industry knowledge and passion to his role as Cruise Director at Fred. Olsen.
In 2017, he stepped away from the cruise industry to explore a different path, venturing into New Build house sales. However, after five years in the corporate world, he found himself questioning whether the 9-5 life was for him. The call of the sea proved too strong to resist, and in 2023, he made the exciting leap back into cruising where his career soon gained momentum, leading him to Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, and he is thrilled to embark on cruise adventure on board our smaller ships.
Jack’s favourite cruise destination, aside from his beloved Liverpool, where he never misses a coffee and a catch-up with his mum, is Rio de Janeiro. Sailing into port and witnessing Christ the Redeemer for the first time was a bucket-list moment he’ll never forget. He'd love to visit Japan and the Far East, as they've always intrigued him, and when he’s not working, Jack enjoys spending time with friends and family, experiencing live music and cheering on his football team, Liverpool FC.
