The Discovery of L'Anse aux Meadows
The archeological site of L'Anse aux Meadows is located on the northern coast of Newfoundland, Canada. It is known as the only proven Norse settlement in North America and has tremendous historical value. In the early 1960s, Norwegian archaeologists Helge and Anne Stine Ingstad embarked upon a journey to find Viking sites in North America. Fred. Olsen's father, Thomas Olsen, and his friend Niels Werring contributed the boat Halten for the voyage.
