We've put together a suggested itinerary to help you make the most of your time in the city before setting sail.
Day One
Arrive in Portsmouth and check in to your hotel before heading out to explore. After dropping off your luggage, enjoy a leisurely lunch and relax into your pre-cruise stay.
Spend the afternoon discovering Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, home to iconic ships including HMS Victory and the Mary Rose Museum, where centuries of maritime history are brought to life. Or, for a different perspective of Portsmouth and the dockyard, enjoy a harbour tour boat trip, as they operate all year round.
Later, make your way to Gunwharf Quays for a coffee by the waterfront after hitting the shops! With its mix of cafés, shops and harbour views, it's the perfect place to relax and watch the world go by.
If the weather is clear, take a trip up the Spinnaker Tower. From the viewing deck, you'll enjoy panoramic views across the harbour and the Solent, making it a fitting "our cruise starts tomorrow" moment.
In the evening, enjoy dinner overlooking the harbour before taking a gentle stroll along the waterfront as the lights begin to twinkle across the marina.
Day Two
After breakfast at your hotel, enjoy an unhurried morning exploring Old Portsmouth before joining your cruise.
Follow the waterfront past The Camber and Broad Street, before continuing to the Round Tower, one of the city's best viewpoints and a wonderful spot for photographs. From here, continue towards Clarence Pier and along the seafront, taking in views across the Solent.
Pause for a coffee overlooking the water before returning to your hotel to collect your luggage. Then make your way to Portsmouth International Port, ready to step on board and begin your Fred. Olsen adventure.
