The Land of Fire & Ice
We have planned your cruise aboard Borealis for you to discover the volcanic beauty of Iceland and the meaning behind 'The Land of Fire & Ice'. From Akureyri, embark on a tour to the magnificent horse-shoe-shaped Godafoss Waterfall - 'Waterfall of the Gods', whose waters cascade over craggy rocks, set within a lush backdrop of rolling hills and fields. Reykjavik is your gateway to the famous Golden Circle Tour, witnessing Gullfoss Waterfall, Thingvellir National Park – where you can see the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates as they meet, and the awe-inspiring spouting geysirs at Strokkur. Dynjandi Waterfall is a series of cascading waterfalls beginning as a narrow stream and fanning out dramatically as it descends into the fjord below. You will also have the chance to visit the lava tunnels of Raufarhólshellir, Langjökull glacier and sail past Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon.

Iceland is the perfect destination for wildlife enthusiasts, with many opportunities to go in search of marine and birdlife. This cruise has been timed for you to witness humpback whales as the waters around Akureyri and Husavik are prime breeding grounds with nutrient-rich waters. Atlantic puffins are widely seen in Iceland, and are known to be a symbol of the country; they tend to nest in coastal cliffs and islands, so do take the chance to join us on the decks of Borealis as we sail along the Icelandic coastline.

On certain sailings we offer two types of cruise fares; Freedom and Saver Fares.

Disembarking when your ship's at anchor is a very different experience to when it's docked portside. Getting ashore in this instance often involves the use of the ship's tender, which is accessed via the steps of a secure gangway.
