Tossa lies at the heart of the Costa Brava, 95 kilometres north of Barcelona and 100 kilometres south of the French border. After a short orientation walk, enjoy some free time to walk through the promenade, enjoy a drink (at own expenses) or for those who fancy a more of a stroll - a walk up to the castle of Tossa de Mar will give you some fantastic views.

Following a brief sightseeing tour of Lloret, you will reach Santa Clotilde Garden, the gardens were designed in the style of the dainty yet austere gardens of the Italian Renaissance and offers some breathtaking views over the sea. From here you will re-board your tour coach for the return drive to Palamos and your awaiting ship.

This tour involves approximately one hour of compulsory walking at Santa Clotilde Garden in Lloret de Mar, some of which will be over steep ground, and with some steps to negotiate. There will be approximately 200 metres of compulsory walking at Tossa de Mar; the rest of the walking here is during the period of free time and is therefore at the discretion of the individual. Unfortunately this tour is not considered suitable for guests with limited mobility or wheelchair users.

On this tour, you will have the chance to learn how to cook and taste Spanish dishes.

You will start your tour walking from the pier to the cooking school, located directly at the pier facilities with views to the sea.

Once in the kitchen, your chef will tell you about the culinary roots and secrets of the local cuisine; while you enjoy a local aperitif and a drink. You will have the opportunity to participate in the cooking show followed by a complete traditional meal.

During the hands-on cooking workshop, you will learn to prepare fish fideuà (typical Spanish dish similar to the Paella, with noodles instead of rice), a first course with squid and black sausage and dessert. 

At the end of the workshop you will enjoy the meal that you will all have prepared accompanied by some wine before walking back to your awaiting ship.

Tossa de Mar curves around a boat-speckled bay, guarded by a headland crowned with impressive defensive medieval walls and towers. There is a larger, modern extension onto this picturesque village of crooked, narrow streets, through its old town and clifftop views retaining their magic.

 

From the port of Palamós, board your coach who will take you directly to Tossa de Mar. Waiting for you, is your trolley train which will take you along the cornice of the Costa Brava. Literally meaning ‘rugged coast'. Admire the unspoiled seaside as you travel through spectacular scenery.

After your relaxing ride, you will return to Tossa de Mar where you will be able to choose if to continue the guided walk with your local expert guide or stay in one of the many cafés along Tossa’s Bay. Tossa has a lovely beach, too. So if you are planning to dip into its water, don’t forget your swimsuit and towel.

At the end of your time in Tossa, you will join your coach for your return journey back to your awaiting ship.

Explore the Dali museum which after the El Prado Museum in Madrid, is the most visited museum in Spain. The Museum is installed in a former theatre next to the bizarre ochre-coloured Torre Galatea, this is where Dalí lived until his death in 1989.

Departing from Palamos you will proceed to Figueres, the capital of the Alt Empordà (Upper Ampurdan). After a panoramic drive, where you pass the most important places and squares of Figueres, you will arrive at the Dalí Museum. The building itself is as much of an attraction as the impressive collection of paintings and sculptures inside, and is in keeping with the personality of the surrealist painter - Dalí himself is entombed beneath the museum. Arriving in Girona, your first stop will be at the Arab Baths, a construction that the Jewish community respected, due to the beauty of its arches. Inside this 12th century building, you will discover the “Frigidarium” or cold baths area, the “Caldarium” or hot baths area and the “Tepidarium”, the warm baths area. You will also discover how advanced the Arab engineers were by admiring the complex of tubes that were used to distribute the hot air from one room to the next one. The construction follows the Arab architecture rules but has lots of local and North African influence.

Your next visit is to the Cathedral of Girona, known as the Cathedral of Santa Maria. Construction began in the 14th century and finished just over 200 years ago. The main nave is 23 metres wide and one of the widest in Europe. The coloured window panes are also one of the highlights of this Cathedral.

Before returning to your awaiting ship you will take a walk around ‘El Call’, the Jewish Quarter. The streets in El Call are a succession of arches and corridors where the Jewish community lived for almost seven centuries.

From the port of Palamós, board your coach to drive directly to the medieval village of Pals. Waiting for you, will be your trolley train which will drive you along the rice fields. You will have the opportunity to discover the entire process of rice production, from the seeding of the paddies to the harvest of the grain, the grinding at the mill to its final merchandising. All this surrounded by the unrivalled scenery of the Pals marshlands.

On the train, as you learn about the route through the audio system, you will enjoy the great views of the rice paddies with the Montgri Mountains as a backdrop. Your train will stop at el Molí de Pals that has been milling and processing rice since the 15th century.

During the visit to the mill a guide will give more information about the processing of the rice. At the end of the tour the train will return you to the departure point in Pals where you will have the chance to follow your guide during a guided tour or discover this little medieval village on your own.
