What's the dress code?

We want you to feel as relaxed and comfortable as possible while enjoying your European river cruise, therefore the dress code on board Fred. Olsen’s Brabant is smart casual. Evening on board For men, a pair of trousers, chinos or smart (dark) jeans, coupled with a polo shirt or shirt is perfectly acceptable, though some guests may prefer to wear a jacket while dining in the Panorama Restaurant. Ladies’ dress can range from tailored trouser suits or stylish dresses to casual separates or summer dresses. There is no requirement for black tie/formal wear on Fred. Olsen River Cruises, however, some guests may wish to opt for something a little dressier for the Captain’s Welcome Dinner.   Daytime You can feel at ease while enjoying the relaxing scenic cruising aboard Brabant. Casual wear such as shorts and t-shirt or a polo shirt is ideal for cruising in the summer months. During spring and autumn we recommend packing something a little warmer for when on deck as the breeze can be a little cooler. A pair of comfortable shoes is a must for when ashore exploring the fascinating ports of call and please remember to dress appropriately if visiting religious sites or places of worship during your explorations.   Other essentials to consider Sunscreen, sunglasses and hat for summer months Light weight jacket for the cooler months Lightweight umbrella

What's the Tipping and Gratuities Policy?

Gratuities are not included in the cost of your holiday. However, we pride ourselves on the service offered to our guests, and are confident that you’ll wish to reward staff on board for this service, although tipping is entirely at your discretion. As a general rule, gratuities are charged at £8.00 per person, per night. This is split between your stewardess and restaurant waiter, and will be automatically added to your on board account. Please remember that our gratuities, while very much appreciated, are voluntary and therefore can be adjusted or removed completely at Reception on board the boat if you wish. For your convenience, you are also able to pay gratuities before your cruise. At the time of booking you will be asked if you’d like to pay prior to travel. If so, you’ll pay 15% of the charge as part of your deposit, and pay the rest when the final balance of your cruise is collected. If you do not pre-pay at the time of booking, but wish to pay your gratuities before you join the boat, simply call our Reservations department at least 5 days before departure and the team will be happy to help.
