Wonderful landscapes from the wine road along the Moselle river in Luxembourg

Diminutive Luxembourg is a charismatic and multicultural slice of Northern Europe, landlocked on all sides, but perfectly accessible by river boat. The capital city of this Grand Duchy, Luxembourg City, is perched on a dramatic clifftop, and has a fairytale-esque quality to it, beyond which lie clusters of villages and medieval castles.

Luxembourg has recovered astoundingly well since it was virtually decimated in World War II, and is justifiably proud of its UNESCO World Heritage museums and monuments, including the National Museum of History and Art, the Luxembourg City History Museum and photographer Edward Steichen’s ‘The Family of Man’ exhibition, permanently housed in Clervaux.

The Moselle wine region, with its steep vineyards, produces delicious wines in one of the most beautiful valleys of Luxembourg, enhanced by the mild climate, allowing vintners to grow superior wines which are appreciated worldwide.
