After a day in the Swiss city of Basel and another visit to Strasbourg, the second week of your holiday sees Brabant sail back along the breathtaking Rhine, stopping at a string of enchanting destinations along the way. Handsome Speyer awaits your exploration, with a full-day visit allowing time to wander into the town’s beautifully-preserved centre and uncover gems such as the Romanesque St Stephen Cathedral; and a call at Koblenz provides an opportunity to ride a cable car to the mighty Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. In between, you’ll delight in the sight of the Middle Rhine Valley’s enchanting hillside towns, striking fortresses and lush forests and vineyards. A second diversion down the Moselle takes in the gorgeous Lower Moselle Valley and Cochem, where the fairytale-esque Reichsburg Castle is an unmissable highlight, before your incredible river cruise adventure concludes back on the banks of the Rhine in Cologne. Perhaps make the most of your time here to visit the city’s iconic, UNESCO-listed Cathedral and marvel at its spectacular towering exterior and glorious interiors; take in the various galleries and museums; and stop-by the Altstadt District, where bustling pubs offer up a friendly atmosphere and Cologne’s famous sweet ale, Kölsch.
