La Savina Sabina village and marina in Formentera Balearic Islands
La Savina Sabina village and marina in Formentera Balearic Islands

The port of La Savina is a gateway for visitors to Formentera, the smallest of the Balearic Islands, which lies just south of Ibiza. [ReadMoreMob] Despite its proximity to the ‘white isle’, Formentera is worlds away from Ibiza’s buzzy atmosphere, with a laid-back vibe and glorious stretches of unspoilt beach. La Savina is a charming introduction to Formentera and the first taste of the island for many arriving by boat. The village bustles with arrivals throughout the day, with a number of cafés, restaurants and bars to welcome visitors. North east of La Savina are some of the best beaches in the region. Playa de ses Illetes is arguably the most popular and it’s easy to see why, with soft white sand and turquoise waters to rival the Caribbean. The island’s capital, Sant Francesc Xavier, is pleasingly understated and just short drive from La Savina – at 22km long, most places on Formentera are only a short drive away. Sant Francesc’s church square is a great place to enjoy a bite to eat before exploring the village’s quaint shops.
