Nestled among the greenery along the Firth of Clyde is Culzean Castle (pronounced ‘cull-ain’), designed and built in the late 18th century. This lavish estate was built for the Kennedys, one of the Scotland’s oldest clans and descendants of Robert the Bruce. Culzean Castle has featured in various films and TV programmes, most notably the 1973 cult film The Wicker Man – exterior shots were used to represent the castle of Lord Summerisle.
