You – along with your fellow, like-minded guests – have an unmissable opportunity to ‘steer your ship’ and guide Braemar on a unique itinerary, voting between two options for each port of call. The power is in your hands, and while there are a few tricky decisions to make, you’re sure to captivated whether you decide to visit familiar destination, or perhaps places you haven’t visited before

Once departed from Southampton, the first vote it to decide which enchanting Spanish city to visit en route to the islands of Macaronesia. La Coruña is a Galician gem renowned for its impressive landmarks, such as the Baroque-style Cornide Palace and ancient Torre de Hercules. Meanwhile, El Ferrol boasts a rich seafaring heritage and its thriving harbour is a delight to explore. Your island-hopping begins with a choice between the lunar-like landscapes and volcanic wonders of Lanzarote; and the gorgeous ‘garden island’ of Madeira, with it’s famous tropical gardens and lush walking trails. The following day, perhaps you’ll opt for a restful day of relaxation on the beach, or marvelling at Mount Teide in Tenerife; or decide to explore the rugged, forested terrain of picturesque La Palma.

The next morning, your smaller ship will arrive at either Gran Canaria – one of the Canaries’ most popular and energetic destinations – or lesser-known, laid-back El Hierro. Will you have voted to discover Gran Canaria’s much-loved highlights, such as the rolling sand dunes of Maspalomas; or will El Hierro have tempted you off the tourist path to uncover the pool and protected woodlands of its biosphere reserve? To conclude your time in the Canaries, will it be the chance to follow in the footsteps of Christopher Columbus with a visit to La Gomera, or an opportunity to indulge in one final day of beach relaxation at Fuerteventura, that makes for a memorable end to the island discovery? Finally, there’s either a diversion to Portugal to taste the culture of Lisbon – the attraction packed capital – or a rare visit to Vilagarcia de Arousa, Spain.

Braemar is the shortest of Fred. Olsen's four smaller, friendly ocean-going cruise ships, with dimensions perfect for cruising picturesque, size-restricted rivers and docking in the heart of fascinating towns and cities.

Like the rest of the fleet, Braemar assumes the welcoming feel and intimacy of a country house hotel, and a sense of timeless style and elegance flows through the ship's comfortable bars and lounges, restaurants and spacious accommodation for up to 929 guests.

Bringing the world closer

Our size advantage means we can take you to places that some of the larger cruise vessels simply can’t. We dock close to the heart of some of the world’s most beautiful cities and can take you on scenic cruising adventures showcasing inspirational landscapes. Our itineraries are expertly crafted to make the most of this advantage.

Smaller but spacious

Aboard our smaller, friendlier ships you'll find there's plenty of room to stretch out by the pool, enjoy a drink and great conversation with like-minded guests, and make the most of your time away. Sailing with hundreds, not thousands, of others allows you to get ashore faster too, and make the most of each destination.
