Discover why Denmark is one of the world’s friendliest and happiest nations on this uplifting and enriching cruise, as your smaller ship takes you closer to the delights of five diverse destinations. After enjoying a warm welcome at each port, you’ll have chances to uncover a wealth of highlights and attractions ashore, with central docking locations allowing for easy, laidback explorations.

Taking advantage of Braemar’s compact dimensions right away, you’ll take in the scenic countryside of the size-restricted Kiel Canal before Aabenraa welcomes you with open arms to begin your Danish adventure. [ReadMoreMob]You’re sure to fall for the charms of Aabenraa: fine 13th century architecture, an abundance of historic churches and museums, and a cosy atmosphere make this coastal gem a delight to explore. Arriving in Aalborg – once voted ‘Europe’s happiest city’– next, you’ll dock alongside the famous Utzon Centre and be invited to treat yourself to complementary Danish hotdogs as part of a traditional welcome on the quayside before beginning your exploration of the city. Aalborg’s many highlights include the 14th century cathedral and Aalborghus Castle, as well as a selection of galleries, museums and friendly pubs, and your ship’s central docking location puts them all within easy reach. The following morning it’s on to Fredericia, where you’ll be greeted by ceremonial performances, music and locals in traditional dress for a simply unforgettable arrival into this historic town. Once docked, again just a short distance from the heart of your destination, you could head into the town centre to find old military ramparts and landmarks including the Foot Soldier Statue; or perhaps opt for a tour to nearby Odense, home of Hans Christian Andersen's childhood residence. In Copenhagen, Braemar will once again take you closer to the heart of it all. The highlights of the capital, including the iconic Little Mermaid statue, the pretty Nyhavn waterfront district, Tivoli Gardens and the impressive Christiansborg and Amalienborg palaces, will all be within easy reach of your ship’s berth; and you’ll have a full-day to take them all in. Finally, there’s Hundested, where you can enjoy the traditional Viking displays on the quayside before taking the day to uncover a handful of attractions. Within the town you’ll discover Grønnessedyssen Karlstenen – one of the country’s largest megalithic tombs – and Knud Rasmussen’s House; while it’s also possible to visit Kronborg Castle – the setting of Shakespeare’s Hamlet – and the city of Elsinore on a tour.

Real ships
We don’t have boastful megaships. We take immense pride in our fleet of smaller-scaled vessels that retain the style, ambience and understated quality of a country house hotel.  We ensure they remain contemporary too: from winter 2016 to spring 2018 the whole fleet underwent dry dock refits to further enhance the facilities for guests. With the fifth generation Fred. Olsen as Chairman and 170 years of seafaring heritage behind us, we believe we’ve found the perfect formula for you to get the best out of your holiday with us.

Smaller but spacious
A smaller ship doesn’t mean less space; far from it. Each room is comfortably sized, with all that you’ll need to enjoy your holiday. In fact, our rooms are comparable to those on some of the mammoth cruise ships. While our vessels are on a more accessible scale, you can have just as much private space.  With fewer people on board it’s easy to find a quiet spot to relax in peace with a drink or a good book. There’s room to stretch out by the pool and you can get ashore more quickly too. And when you’re ashore, you’re seeing the best of each port of call with hundreds – not thousands – of others, giving you a much more authentic experience.

Service with a smile
Each member of the Fred. Olsen team has been carefully selected for their warm and welcoming personalities. The quality of our people, supported by training and development, ensures they will give you a great holiday: in guest feedback our staff are always the most highly-rated aspect of the whole experience.

Refurbished in 2017, elegant Braemar is the shortest of Fred. Olsen's four smaller, friendly ocean-going cruise ships, with dimensions perfect for cruising picturesque, size-restricted rivers and docking in the heart of fascinating towns and cities.

Like the rest of the fleet, Braemar assumes the welcoming feel and intimacy of a country house hotel, and a sense of timeless style and elegance flows through the ship's comfortable bars and lounges, restaurants and spacious accommodation for up to 929 guests.
