If you want to enjoy an uplifting cruise experience in 2018, look no further than this immersive springtime exploration of Denmark, one of the world’s most welcoming and fascinating countries, aboard Braemar.

You’ll receive a warm reception at every enchanting destination on this wonderful Danish adventure, beginning with a call into Aabenraa after a relaxing journey along Germany’s size-restricted Kiel Canal. Aabenraa will welcome you with open arms, beckoning you ashore to soak up the cosy atmosphere of this charming coastal city; admire the fine 13th century architecture; and discover an abundance of historic churches and interesting museums. Once back on board Braemar you’ll experience scenic cruising of the beautiful Aabenraa and Als fjords in the late afternoon before sailing overnight to Fredericia. Here you’ll be greeted by ceremonial cannon fire and friendly locals in traditional dress, ensuring your arrival into this historic town will be simply unforgettable. In the town centre – just 400 metres from your ship's berth – you’ll find old military ramparts and landmarks, including the Foot Soldier Statue; though you might prefer to visit the original Legoland in nearby Billund. There's also the chance to tour to Odense, home of Hans Christian Andersen's childhood residence. [ReadMore]

The following morning your ship will sail into Hundested, where you can enjoy the traditional Viking displays on the quayside before taking the day to uncover a handful of attractions. Within the town you’ll discover Grønnessedyssen Karlstenen – one of the country’s largest megalithic tombs – and Knud Rasmussen’s House; while it’s also possible to visit Kronborg Castle – the setting of Shakespeare’s Hamlet – and the city of Elsinore on a tour. You’ll cruise by Kronborg Castle en route to Copenhagen, where Braemar will once again take you closer to the heart of it all. The highlights of the capital, including the iconic Little Mermaid statue, the pretty Nyhavn waterfront district, Tivoli Gardens and the impressive Christiansborg and Amalienborg palaces, will all be within easy reach of your ship’s berth; and you’ll have an extended stay to take them all in. Lastly you’ll arrive in Aalborg – ‘Europe’s Happiest City’ – after a glide along Limfjorden. After docking next to the famous Utzon Centre you can enjoy a complementary hotdog on the quayside before heading into the city to explore. A full day in port affords ample time to see medieval landmarks such as the 14th century cathedral and Aalborghus Castle; visit the many fine galleries and museums; and even enjoy a drink or two at the welcoming pubs.
