Cruise Summary

Providing the perfect escape from the cold, wet weather of the British winter, as well as the usual pre-Christmas stress, this 16-night voyage takes you across the Atlantic to the gorgeous, sun-soaked islands of the Caribbean, where you can indulge yourself with well-earned rest, relaxation and wonderfully rewarding exploration.

Cruising across the Atlantic is always a memorable and magical experience, and your glide across this vast ocean will be no exception. [ReadMoreMob] This incredible journey will afford you time to settle in on board smaller, friendlier cruise ship, acquaint yourself with your fellow-like minded guests, and soak-up all the excitement as anticipation for your Caribbean island-hopping adventure builds. [ReadMoreDesk] En route, you’ll also visit the Azorean island of São Miguel, for chances to whet your appetite with tours to the stunning Sete Cidades Volcano and Terra Nostra Gardens. Once you finally reach the Caribbean, an immersive, in-depth exploration of this breathtaking region awaits, with Braemar sailing between six captivating islands on consecutive days.

At St Maarten, you could explore the 17th century battlements of Fort Amsterdam and Fort Willem during a call at Philipsburg, from where you could also opt to join a thrilling catamaran sailing on the Caribbean Sea. Antigua boasts 365 beautiful beaches that tempt you into hours of soothing relaxation, a kaleidoscope of coral reefs, and historical highlights such as the English Harbour and Nelson’s Dockyard; St John’s is your starting point for discovering it all. Then there’s an opportunity to ride one of the world’s great scenic railways in St Kitts, before the natural wonders of St Lucia are revealed. The volcanic Twin Pitons and Diamond Botanical Garden are among the highlights within reach on tour from Castries. As your unforgettable Caribbean adventure nears its conclusion, you’ll then head for the ‘Spice Island’ of Grenada, where an infectious aroma of nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla fills the air. Here you can learn of life as a local cocoa farmer, and even have a go at harvesting cocoa yourself. Vibrant Bridgetown, gateway to exploring Barbados, is where you disembark. Before flying home, perhaps take a dip in the azure waters and swim with Sea Turtles; visit the Mount Gay Rum Factory; or simply make the most of the glorious Caribbean sunshine at inviting beaches one last time.

Enrichment Activities

Your transatlantic crossing will provide the perfect opportunity to learn a new skill, perhaps reignite old passions in the company of new found friends, or delve into various topics with an insightful lecture or two from one of the many on board speakers.

You could also join your fellow guests in a drama workshop; sing with the on board choir; learn to play the ukulele; or showcase your artistic side with our professionally-led arts and crafts classes, including watercolour painting sessions. Whatever you choose, knowledgeable experts will be on board to guide your activities.

For those who wish to play Bridge, whether you play regularly or want to try it for the first time, you can hone your skills with our Bridge instructors and participate in competitive games.

And of course there will be dancing opportunities aplenty throughout your Caribbean voyage, whether its learning a new sequence of moves or dancing for pleasure with our on board hosts.

Refurbished in 2017, elegant Braemar is the shortest of Fred. Olsen's four smaller, friendly ocean-going cruise ships, with dimensions perfect for cruising picturesque, size-restricted rivers and docking in the heart of fascinating towns and cities.

Like the rest of the fleet, Braemar assumes the welcoming feel and intimacy of a country house hotel, and a sense of timeless style and elegance flows through the ship's comfortable bars and lounges, restaurants and spacious accommodation for up to 929 guests.

Real ships
We don’t have boastful megaships. We take immense pride in our fleet of smaller-scaled vessels that retain the style, ambience and understated quality of a country house hotel.  We ensure they remain contemporary too: from winter 2016 to spring 2018 the whole fleet underwent dry dock refits to further enhance the facilities for guests. With the fifth generation Fred. Olsen as Chairman and 170 years of seafaring heritage behind us, we believe we’ve found the perfect formula for you to get the best out of your holiday with us.

Smaller but spacious
A smaller ship doesn’t mean less space; far from it. Each room is comfortably sized, with all that you’ll need to enjoy your holiday. In fact, our rooms are comparable to those on some of the mammoth cruise ships. While our vessels are on a more accessible scale, you can have just as much private space.  With fewer people on board it’s easy to find a quiet spot to relax in peace with a drink or a good book. There’s room to stretch out by the pool and you can get ashore more quickly too. And when you’re ashore, you’re seeing the best of each port of call with hundreds – not thousands – of others, giving you a much more authentic experience.

Service with a smile
Each member of the Fred. Olsen team has been carefully selected for their warm and welcoming personalities. The quality of our people, supported by training and development, ensures they will give you a great holiday: in guest feedback our staff are always the most highly-rated aspect of the whole experience.
