Escape the cold winter weather on an incredible voyage to Caribbean aboard Braemar and prepare for the busy festive period with some well-earned rest and relaxation in the sunshine.

Before taking in a string of stunning Caribbean islands you’ll visit two very different, yet equally rewarding Portuguese destinations. First on your itinerary is Lisbon, where historic structures and monuments such as the Belém Tower and Jeronimos Monastery are found within the pretty streets. Be sure to visit Pasteis de Belém for one of the famous egg tarts too. Then on the floral island of Madeira, sweet-scented gardens and the leafy levada trails are yours to explore while enjoying the beautifully benign climate. This is sure to whet your appetite for the sun-kissed beauty awaiting you in the Caribbean. A glide across the Atlantic follows, allowing plenty of time to relax and enjoy the facilities on board your ship before arriving in St John’s, Antigua. Here you can take your pick of over 365 beautiful beaches; visit the historic English Harbour and Nelson’s Dockyard; and marvel at the views on offer from the Shirley Heights lookout. Whatever you choose to do, your stop at St John’s is sure to be the perfect start to your Caribbean adventure. [ReadMore]

Up next is a full day on the dual-controlled island of St Maarten. Philipsburg – capital of the Dutch side of the island – boasts gorgeous golden beaches, a host of historic landmarks including the Amsterdam and Willem forts and fantastic tax-free shopping. For a simply unforgettable experience, discover the island’s spectacular scenery in style via Harley Davidson; or ride a catamaran along the unspoilt coast. Then it’s on Road Town, Tortola for the chance to sample authentic Caribbean rum at the world-famous Pussers Bar; or perhaps go swimming with dolphins – a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Alternatively you could opt to uncover the island’s legendary pirate-influenced past on a scenic boat cruise and safari bus tour before sailing on to St Kitts. From Basseterre be sure to ride the St Kitts Scenic Railway – one of the world’s greatest train journeys – and admire the incredible island scenery. Finally you’ll revel in Barbados’ laid-back atmosphere during a stay in Bridgetown, where you’ll have opportunities to indulge with local cuisine; kick-back at the beach; or even embark on a boat tour in search of sea turtles.
