A perfect escape from the typically British winter weather, as well as the usual stress of the busy Christmas period, this 30-night voyage takes you across the Atlantic to the sun-kissed Caribbean, where you can indulge with pure relaxation, wonderfully rewarding island exploration and magical Christmas and New Year celebrations.

After your memorable transatlantic crossing, which includes a stop at the beautiful Azorean island of São Miguel en route, you’re in for almost three weeks of unforgettable island-hopping packed with authentic Caribbean experiences. The first week of this immersive, in-depth exploration of one of the world’s most breathtaking regions sees Braemar sail between seven gorgeous islands on consecutive days. You’ll have chances to explore St Maarten’s impressive 17th century battlements; soak-up soothing sunshine on your pick of Antigua’s 365 inviting beaches; and take a ride on one of the greatest scenic railways on earth in St Kitts. St Lucia’s natural wonders – such as the soaring Twin Pitons – await you too, while in Grenada the underwater sculpture park at Molinière Bay is not-to-be-missed. Stopping overnight in Bridgetown affords you time to immerse yourself in the Barbadian way of life - perhaps explore the city, with it’s Georgian-style architecture and friendly bars; visit the Mount Gay Rum Factory on a tour; or even take a dip in the azure waters and swim with Sea Turtles. There’s a stop at Tobago, for the animated city of Scarborough and the historical site of Fort King George, too.

Your Christmas to remember kicks-off with calls at two of the ‘ABC’ islands. You can go in search of Bonaire’s native flamingos and vast salt flats from Kralendijk; and, on Christmas Eve, seek-out Aruba’s unique Casibari Rocks or admire the colourful Amsterdam-esque architecture of Oranjestad. Christmas Day will be spent at sea, with a festive feast of fun, food and entertainment to enjoy on board Braemar, before visiting Grenada once again on Boxing Day. As 2019 comes to an end you’ll see out the year in style with second stops at St Lucia, Antigua, St Kitts, and St Maarten providing opportunities to see more of these idyllic islands, or simply enjoy some post-Christmas relaxation. On New Year’s Eve, a full-day docked in Road Town affords you time to uncover Tortola’s fascinating pirate history on a scenic boat tour, followed by an exhilarating open-top safari bus adventure, before welcoming the arrival of 2020 with an evening of celebration and a magnificent New Year’s fireworks display. A day at sea to relax and catch your breath kicks-off the New Year, before finally disembarking in the Dominican Republic.

Refurbished in 2017, elegant Braemar is the shortest of Fred. Olsen's four smaller, friendly ocean-going cruise ships, with dimensions perfect for cruising picturesque, size-restricted rivers and docking in the heart of fascinating towns and cities.

Like the rest of the fleet, Braemar assumes the welcoming feel and intimacy of a country house hotel, and a sense of timeless style and elegance flows through the ship's comfortable bars and lounges, restaurants and spacious accommodation for up to 929 guests.

Real ships
We’re not interested in gimmicks like zip wires, climbing walls or celebrity chefs. We don’t have boastful megaships. We take immense pride in our fleet of smaller-scaled vessels that retain the style, ambience and understated quality of a country house hotel.  We ensure they remain contemporary too: from winter 2016 to spring 2018 the whole fleet underwent dry dock refits to further enhance the facilities for guests. With the fifth generation Fred. Olsen as Chairman and 170 years of seafaring heritage behind us, we believe we’ve found the perfect formula for you to get the best out of your holiday with us.

Smaller but spacious
A smaller ship doesn’t mean less space; far from it. Each room is comfortably sized, with all that you’ll need to enjoy your holiday. In fact, our rooms are comparable to those on some of the mammoth cruise ships. While our vessels are on a more accessible scale, you can have just as much private space.  With fewer people on board it’s easy to find a quiet spot to relax in peace with a drink or a good book. There’s room to stretch out by the pool and you can get ashore more quickly too. And when you’re ashore, you’re seeing the best of each port of call with hundreds – not thousands – of others, giving you a much more authentic experience.

Service with a smile
Each member of the Fred. Olsen team has been carefully selected for their warm and welcoming personalities. The quality of our people, supported by training and development, ensures they will give you a great holiday: in guest feedback our staff are always the most highly-rated aspect of the whole experience.
