Meet Braemar in Barbados and embark on an incredible island-hopping adventure packed with authentic Caribbean experiences. You can immerse yourself in vibrant culture; unearth rich history; marvel at stunning landscapes; and indulge in pure relaxation at postcard-perfect beaches, all on one unforgettable 14-night holiday.

Your ship will be waiting for you in Bridgetown, where you’ll have time to sample Barbadian life before setting sail. Perhaps you’ll take advantage of the tax-free shopping, admire the Georgian-style architecture, or simply enjoy the sunshine at one of the nearby beaches. Then it’s on to Tobago, for the animated city of Scarborough and the historical site of Fort King George, before stops at two of the ‘ABC’ islands bring a Dutch flavour to your Caribbean exploration. Visit Bonaire to go in search of native flamingos and visit the island’s vast salt flats from Kralendijk; and, call at the beautiful island of Aruba, where the colourful, Amsterdam-esque architecture of Oranjestad and the unique Casibari Rocks await. You’ll then spend a restful day at sea, as Braemar heads to Grenada – the ‘Spice Island’ – for a wonderfully rewarding stop at St George’s. Tempting scents of nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla fill the air here, while attractions such as Molinière Bay underwater sculpture park and Grand Etang National Park are within reach. [ReadMore]

Visits to five spectacular islands on consecutive days will bring your holiday to an exhilarating end. Your smaller, friendlier cruise ship will guide you to St Lucia, where the soaring Twin Pitons, bubbling Soufrière Volcano and the Diamond Botanical Gardens are among a wealth of astonishing natural wonders; and to Antigua, an island famed for boasting over 365 breathtaking beaches, as well as historical highlights such as the English Harbour and Nelson’s Dockyard. Then there’s St Kitts, for a chance to ride on one of the world’s greatest scenic railways and witness unspoilt scenes of sugarcane fields, dense forests and spectacular coastline. At St Maarten, you could explore the 17th century battlements of Fort Amsterdam and Fort Willem during a call at Philipsburg, or opt to join a thrilling catamaran sailing on the Caribbean Sea. Finally, a full-day docked in Road Town affords you time to uncover Tortola’s fascinating pirate history on a scenic boat tour followed by an exhilarating open-top safari bus adventure, before disembarking in the Dominican Republic.

Elegant Braemar is the shortest of Fred. Olsen's four smaller, friendly ocean-going cruise ships, with dimensions perfect for cruising picturesque, size-restricted rivers and docking in the heart of fascinating towns and cities. Like the rest of the fleet, Braemar assumes the welcoming feel and intimacy of a country house hotel, and a sense of timeless style and elegance flows through the ship's comfortable bars and lounges, restaurants and spacious accommodation for up to 929 guests.

Rest assured, all of the following comes as standard on every Fred. Olsen cruise:

  • Comfortable rooms and suites with TV, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities and individually controlled air conditioning
  • Tempting cuisine every day throughout your cruise - with five-course à la carte dinners, casual breakfast and lunch buffets and late-night snacks
  • Unlimited, self-service tea and coffee at selected venues, afternoon tea* with sandwiches and cakes, and in-room sandwiches and snacks
  • All evening entertainment, including cabaret shows, dancing and live music

Real ships
We’re not interested in gimmicks like zip wires, climbing walls or celebrity chefs. We don’t have boastful megaships. We take immense pride in our fleet of smaller-scaled vessels that retain the style, ambience and understated quality of a country house hotel.  We ensure they remain contemporary too: from winter 2016 to spring 2018 the whole fleet underwent dry dock refits to further enhance the facilities for guests. With the fifth generation Fred. Olsen as Chairman and 170 years of seafaring heritage behind us, we believe we’ve found the perfect formula for you to get the best out of your holiday with us.

Smaller but spacious
A smaller ship doesn’t mean less space; far from it. Each room is comfortably sized, with all that you’ll need to enjoy your holiday. In fact, our rooms are comparable to those on some of the mammoth cruise ships. While our vessels are on a more accessible scale, you can have just as much private space.  With fewer people on board it’s easy to find a quiet spot to relax in peace with a drink or a good book. There’s room to stretch out by the pool and you can get ashore more quickly too. And when you’re ashore, you’re seeing the best of each port of call with hundreds – not thousands – of others, giving you a much more authentic experience.

Service with a smile
Each member of the Fred. Olsen team has been carefully selected for their warm and welcoming personalities. The quality of our people, supported by training and development, ensures they will give you a great holiday: in guest feedback our staff are always the most highly-rated aspect of the whole experience.
