Scottish Isles with Torshavn

Torshavn, Faroes Torshavn, Faroes

Enjoy some well-earned time away on Braemar, experiencing the relaxation and exploration of cruising with Fred. Olsen. Short and sweet, this sailing is the perfect break, a chance to relax, breathe in the fresh sea air and delight in the beauty of Scotland and the Faroe Islands, both during time ashore and whilst on board enjoying the space, comfort and warm atmosphere of a smaller ship.

On this journey, you’ll get to revel in the scenic landscapes and natural wonders of Scotland’s Orkney and Shetland islands; as you sail the waters surrounding these lands, dramatic cliffs, sea stacks and rolling valleys come into view. In Shetland, you could tour from Lerwick to watch various bird species at RSPB Sumburgh Head, or see the coastal scenes of Northmavine too; while Kirkwall in Orkney is your gateway to historic treasures such as the UNESCO-listed Neolithic village of Skara Brae and ceremonial stone circles of Stenness and the Ring of Brodgar. Finally, in the Faroes, enjoy time in Tórshavn, perhaps to learn of links to the Vikings, see the city’s mix of diverse old and new architecture, or simply stroll the flagstone streets and parks, to taste life as a local here.

Braemar is the shortest of Fred. Olsen's four smaller, friendly ocean-going cruise ships, with dimensions perfect for cruising picturesque, size-restricted rivers and docking in the heart of fascinating towns and cities.

Like the rest of the fleet, Braemar assumes the welcoming feel and intimacy of a country house hotel, and a sense of timeless style and elegance flows through the ship's comfortable bars and lounges, restaurants and spacious accommodation for up to 929 guests.

In recent years, we have seen a new era emerging in cruising.

There is a trend for everything to get bigger and busier, and for a cruise to be seen as an alternative to a large luxury resort, with a limitless flurry of activity. But this is not for us. Find out more

We are free to do things a different way because we are family-run. Of course some people enjoy the bigger, busier cruises, but it is not for everyone, and it is not for us. We prefer to do things, 'The Olsen Way'.

We have fewer guests, so the atmosphere on board our ships is always warm and civilised. Our smaller ships allow us to visit the more interesting places that the world has to offer.

We pride ourselves on putting our all into the Fred. Olsen cruise experience. Our itineraries are created from scratch every year, our service is genuinely personal and each and every area of our ships is designed by hand.
