If you’re looking for a short summer break, this very special Scottish sailing might be the perfect getaway. Spend five relaxing nights on board Balmoral as she guides you to three stunning destinations where infamous lochs, historic castles, ancient wonders and spectacular coastal scenery await discovery.

After embarking in Newcastle your exciting escape begins with an overnight sail to Invergordon, from where you can venture into the picture-perfect Highlands and explore the beautiful gardens of Cawdor Castle, or marvel at the region’s largest house, Dunrobin Castle. For an authentic taste of Scotland, take this opportunity to visit the world-famous Glenmorangie Distillery and sample traditional Scotch whisky. Alternatively you can head off to Loch Ness in search of ‘Nessie’. From Invergordon it’s on to the Orkneys and the islands’ capital, Kirkwall. With a full day to explore, you could take in the rugged scenery – keeping a look out for wonderful wildlife as you journey along the coast – or perhaps see St Magnus Cathedral in all its glory. Not to be missed are the 5,000-year-old structures of the Neolithic village of Skara Brae; while the ancient Standing Stones of Stenness and the Ring of Brodgar are among other highlights which are well worth discovering. [ReadMore]

In the picturesque Shetlands, some of Scotland’s most spectacular coastal scenery is yours to discover on a tour to Northmavine from Lerwick. The Shetlands’ northernmost point boasts unique sea vistas looking out across the North Sea and Atlantic Ocean; as well as a few must-see landmarks including Eshaness Lighthouse, built by the uncles of Robert Louis Stevenson. Yet another full day stay also allows you time to tour to the dramatic cliffs of Sumburgh Head, one of the best places on earth to watch seabirds such as puffins, fulmars and guillemots up-close. Finally your rewarding break comes to an end with a day at sea as Balmoral sails back to Newcastle, the perfect opportunity to reminisce about your Scottish adventures with your friends, family and fellow guests.
