Combining a wonderful mix of quaint towns, picturesque islands, beautiful waterways and the attraction-packed capital, this is Scotland at its best. You can discover untouched landscapes, historic sites and breathtaking natural wonders, and even experience two iconic, internationally renowned events, on this very special sailing on board Black Watch.

Visiting Edinburgh, with its world-class attractions, rich history and Royal heritage, is always memorable and wonderfully rewarding, but even more so when your time here coincides with the Scottish capital’s most famous annual events. During your overnight stop at Rosyth, you’ll have the chance to head to Edinburgh to experience all the theatre, music, opera, dance and excitement of the Edinburgh International Festival; or even immerse yourself in all the pomp and splendour of the quintessentially British Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Taking place on the esplanade of Edinburgh’s iconic castle, the Tattoo’s live performances from Britain’s talented military bands are broadcast to millions of viewers around the globe; but there’s nothing like experiencing it all live and in person. Away from the capital, there are plenty of unforgettable sights and experiences awaiting you elsewhere in Scotland too. In the Orkneys, calling at Kirkwall offers you an opportunity to visit the ancient ceremonial stones of Stenness and Brodgar; or delve into centuries of fascinating history at the 5000-year-old Neolithic village of Skara Brae. St Magnus cathedral is also a sight to savour. Your ship will drop anchor at Ullapool, gateway to Loch Glencoul and Eas a' Chual Aluinn, Britain’s highest waterfall; and at Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, where you could take a boat tour along the Sound of Mull in search of seal, seabirds and stunning scenery. Sailing the Sound of Mull and by the 13th century Duart Castle aboard Black Watch in the evening will be a memorable experience too. At the end of your holiday, you’ll also sail to the ‘Emerald Isle’ to visit Belfast, Northern Ireland’s cosmopolitan capital. An abundance of attractions await you here, including the fantastic Titanic Belfast experience and Belfast Castle; though you might be tempted to take a tour to the remarkable, UNESCO-listed Giant’s Causeway.

Single supplement offers are available on selected grades on this sailing, please call for details.

Black Watch is the ultimate home-from-home at sea: spacious with a friendly, familiar feel and providing a traditional cruise experience. Refurbished at the end of 2016, the 804-guest Black Watch features stylish new décor, fittings and furniture, plus the new Black Watch Room restaurant.

What's more, new soft furnishing, smart TVs and mini-bars enhance the accommodation on board, while the cinema has been upgraded too. Despite all these new features, Black Watch still retains her sleek, intimate style and has a welcoming ambience - just like the rest of the Fred. Olsen fleet.

Real ships
We’re not interested in gimmicks like zip wires, climbing walls or celebrity chefs. We don’t have boastful megaships. We take immense pride in our fleet of smaller-scaled vessels that retain the style, ambience and understated quality of a country house hotel.  We ensure they remain contemporary too: from winter 2016 to spring 2018 the whole fleet underwent dry dock refits to further enhance the facilities for guests. With the fifth generation Fred. Olsen as Chairman and 170 years of seafaring heritage behind us, we believe we’ve found the perfect formula for you to get the best out of your holiday with us.

Smaller but spacious
A smaller ship doesn’t mean less space; far from it. Each room is comfortably sized, with all that you’ll need to enjoy your holiday. In fact, our rooms are comparable to those on some of the mammoth cruise ships. While our vessels are on a more accessible scale, you can have just as much private space.  With fewer people on board it’s easy to find a quiet spot to relax in peace with a drink or a good book. There’s room to stretch out by the pool and you can get ashore more quickly too. And when you’re ashore, you’re seeing the best of each port of call with hundreds – not thousands – of others, giving you a much more authentic experience.

Service with a smile
Each member of the Fred. Olsen team has been carefully selected for their warm and welcoming personalities. The quality of our people, supported by training and development, ensures they will give you a great holiday: in guest feedback our staff are always the most highly-rated aspect of the whole experience.
