As Balmoral ventures deeper into the magnificent Norwegian fjordland, you’ll delight in the splendour of some of the world’s most spectacular waterways. Lose yourself in the eerie silence of wild and rugged Nordfjord and the countryside scenes of Langfjorden and Eresfjorden; and witness the magnificence of Lysefjord and the twisting, narrow Nærøyfjord – an UNESCO-listed wonder only accessible to smaller ships – with their towering mountains, dramatic cliffs and intricate rock formations carved by Mother Nature.

Visits to four highlight destinations provide opportunities to step ashore in the fjords, and get even closer to an abundance of attractions. Olden is your gateway to astonishing glacier arms and the Loen Skylift, which offers breathtaking views all the way to the peak of 1011 metre-high Mount Hoven. At Flåm and Andalsnes, two incredible railways – the Flåmsbana and the Rauma – are yours to ride high into mountain valleys by tumbling waterfalls, creating memories that will last a lifetime. An incredible funicular railway can take you to the top of Mount Fløyen for stunning views in Bergen too, though you may opt for a change of scenery and explore the city’s iconic Bryggen Wharf instead.

Aboard our smaller, friendlier ships you'll find there's plenty of room to stretch out by the pool, enjoy a drink and great conversation with like-minded guests, and make the most of your time away. Sailing with hundreds, not thousands, of others allows you to get ashore faster too, and make the most of each destination.

Each member of the Fred. Olsen team has been carefully selected for their warm and welcoming personalities. The quality of our people, supported by training and development, ensures they will give you a great holiday. In fact, 97% of guests rated Fred. Olsen’s friendly, attentive staff ‘Excellent’ or ‘Good’.

Balmoral is the largest of Fred. Olsen's smaller, friendly ocean-going cruise ships – with capacity for up to 1,350 guests – yet is still small enough to navigate narrow waterways such as Kiel Canal and bring inspirational sights and experiences closer to you. Like the rest of the fleet, Balmoral retains a warm, welcoming atmosphere and features comfortable accommodation and lounges, stylish restaurants and plenty of open-deck space.
