By docking closer to the heart of historic, culture-rich cities, Braemar puts you within easy reach of the greatest sights and attractions the Baltic has to offer. Ornate architectural treasures, iconic museums, legendary landmarks and much more awaits your discovery, all on an immersive, in-depth summertime exploration of one of the world’s most absorbing regions.

Before the Baltic reveals its rich rewards, you’re sure to be captivated by views of verdant German countryside as your smaller ship navigates the size-restricted Kiel Canal en route to Latvia. [ReadMoreMob]A visit to Riga, the enchanting Latvian capital, provides your first opportunity for enriching exploration ashore: wander a short distance from Braemar’s city centre docking location and you’ll discover many highlights, such as the striking art-nouveau architecture of the awe-inspiring Old Town and the iconic Freedom Monument. It is then on to Finland where, after a visit to Mariehamn – capital of the picturesque Åland archipelago, another beautiful Baltic capital is yours to explore. In Helsinki, Braemar heads into the heart of the action once again, bringing the city’s diverse attractions closer to you. You can delight in the impressive exhibits of insightful museums and galleries, the tranquillity of the unique Kamppi Chapel of Silence and the unmissable photo opportunities on offer at Senate Square. Alternatively, for an altogether authentic experience, you could opt to unwind at a quintessential Finnish sauna. [ReadMoreDesk]

Your Baltic exploration kicks into high gear in Russia, where an overnight stay in spectacular St Petersburg will be an undoubted highlight to savour. Glistening golden-domed structures will come into view as you sail the River Neva into the city, hinting at the gems awaiting discovery ashore in the ‘Jewel in the Baltic Crown’. Peterhof Palace, the Church of Our Saviour on the Spilled Blood and St. Isaacs Cathedral are among star attractions to admire on a guided walking tour by day, perhaps before seeing, hearing and feeling the emotion of a spine-tingling evening at the Russian ballet – a remarkable cultural experience. As your incredible holiday nears its conclusion, two contrasting destinations will then provide a welcome taste of Scandinavia. There’s UNESCO-listed Visby on the pretty Swedish island of Gotland, with its beautifully preserved Old City, hanseatic-era merchants houses and medieval ruins; and Copenhagen, the delightful Danish capital, where highlights include the Little Mermaid statue, colourful Nyhavn district and the impressive Christiansborg and Amalienborg palaces within easy reach. You’ll also experience scenic cruising of the sprawling Stockholm Archipelago, and – as you head for home – enjoy a return journey along the Kiel Canal.

Real ships
We don’t have boastful megaships. We take immense pride in our fleet of smaller-scaled vessels that retain the style, ambience and understated quality of a country house hotel.  We ensure they remain contemporary too: from winter 2016 to spring 2018 the whole fleet underwent dry dock refits to further enhance the facilities for guests. With the fifth generation Fred. Olsen as Chairman and 170 years of seafaring heritage behind us, we believe we’ve found the perfect formula for you to get the best out of your holiday with us.

Smaller but spacious
A smaller ship doesn’t mean less space; far from it. Each room is comfortably sized, with all that you’ll need to enjoy your holiday. In fact, our rooms are comparable to those on some of the mammoth cruise ships. While our vessels are on a more accessible scale, you can have just as much private space.  With fewer people on board it’s easy to find a quiet spot to relax in peace with a drink or a good book. There’s room to stretch out by the pool and you can get ashore more quickly too. And when you’re ashore, you’re seeing the best of each port of call with hundreds – not thousands – of others, giving you a much more authentic experience.

Service with a smile
Each member of the Fred. Olsen team has been carefully selected for their warm and welcoming personalities. The quality of our people, supported by training and development, ensures they will give you a great holiday: in guest feedback our staff are always the most highly-rated aspect of the whole experience.

Refurbished in 2017, elegant Braemar is the shortest of Fred. Olsen's four smaller, friendly ocean-going cruise ships, with dimensions perfect for cruising picturesque, size-restricted rivers and docking in the heart of fascinating towns and cities.

Like the rest of the fleet, Braemar assumes the welcoming feel and intimacy of a country house hotel, and a sense of timeless style and elegance flows through the ship's comfortable bars and lounges, restaurants and spacious accommodation for up to 929 guests.
