The cruise at a glance

The Olsen Way Highlights

Witness the changing landscapes of Norway’s fjords as summer begins to draw to a close. We will deviate away from the direct routes, presenting you with spectacular sights such as the sprawling Fureberg Waterfall; Lysefjord – out of reach to larger ships; UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord; and Norway’s two longest fjords – Sognefjord and Hardangerfjord. There’s even a sailing past Hornelen, Europe’s highest sea cliff, specially timed for sunset. Ashore you will have opportunities to hike with a Bergen native atop Mount Fløyen; taste seasonal local produce such as cider and brandy in Eidfjord; visit the mighty Briksdal Glacier from Olden; and ride the Flåm Railway up high into the mountains.

Highlights

Furebergsfossen Waterfall, Norway

Waterfalls of the fjords

Bolette will sail into no less than seven impressive fjords during this Norwegian Fjords cruise, with diversions into the smaller Lysefjord to see the sprawling Fureberg Waterfall; opportunities to take a boat trip on the striking Nærøyfjord to see some of the 25 waterfalls situated along the fjord; or Voringfoss waterfall from Eidfjord which tumbles down a vertical drop of 180 metres before winding along the valley below.

Flam railway, Norway

Mountainous landscapes

The fjords and mountains of Norway are a highly sought after destination by our guests, so this particular cruise will offer a multitude of outstanding scenic discoveries. Guests can enjoy a hike like a local from atop Mount Floyen in Bergen, along tree-lined paths with breathtaking vistas from Mount Sandviken . There’s also the chance to take the Flam railway up into the mountains, see spectacular fjord views at Stegastein viewpoint, or ride the Loen skylift from Olden.

Briksdal Glacier, Norway

Briksdal Glacier

Set between thundering waterfalls and mountainous peaks in the Briksdalen Valley, Briksdal Glacier – an arm of the mighty Jostedal Glacier – is a magnificent sight with turquoise ice crawling down the rock face to the lake below. The glacier has retreated in recent years, but it’s worth visiting on a tour from Bolette with a local guide as they know the area so well and the best viewpoint from which to see the glacier.
