Discover the delights and highlights of some of the most beautiful destinations in the Mediterranean, taking advantage of Braemar’s smaller size to glide straight into the heart of stunning ports in Spain, France and Italy.

From Southampton you’ll sail first to Spanish shores and visit two striking cities. Málaga perfectly blends a wonderful mix of historic structures – such as the imposing Moorish Alcazaba Fortress – and modern attractions including the fantastic Picasso Museum. Spend the day taking in the sights, or perhaps tour to sunny Marbella and Puerto Banús before sailing on to Barcelona. This incredible Catalan city boasts an abundance of world-famous highlights, from the bustling Las Ramblas to the architectural wonders of Gaudi – including the spectacular Sagrada Familia. Then in France Braemar will dock just 200 metres from the centre of stylish Sete, so you’ll be perfectly placed to embark on a relaxing stroll along the pretty of canals of the ‘Little Venice of Languedoc’ and take in the town’s intricate facades, charming squares and pretty bridges. The interesting medieval hilltop town of Carcassonne will be just a short journey away too. [ReadMore]

From Sete it’s on to marvellous Marseille, where your ship will once again have special permission to dock closer to the city’s attractions. Highlights include the lively Old Port and historic district, which is overlooked by the magnificent Notre-Dame de la Garde; as well as busy markets, high-end boutiques, galleries and the Cathédrale de la Major – a French National Monument. Marseille is also your gateway to the Luberon region of Provence, where on an unforgettable tour you might be lucky enough to see the breathtaking lavender fields in their fragrant summer bloom. Then on the fabulous French Riviera you’ll experience the glitz and glamour of Monaco. Take the day to marvel at the multi-million pound superyachts at the iconic marina, see the famous hotels and casinos, or even enjoy a relaxing walk around part of the Formula One Grand Prix Circuit. Braemar will then sail back to Spain and dock in the fascinating city of Cartagena, where the medieval castle and the Roman amphitheatre are among many highlights; before stopping off in Lisbon – the attraction-packed Portuguese capital – en route back to Southampton.

Elegant Braemar is the shortest of Fred. Olsen's four smaller, friendly ocean-going cruise ships, with dimensions perfect for cruising picturesque, size-restricted rivers and docking in the heart of fascinating towns and cities. Like the rest of the fleet, Braemar assumes the welcoming feel and intimacy of a country house hotel, and a sense of timeless style and elegance flows through the ship's comfortable bars and lounges, restaurants and spacious accommodation for up to 929 guests.

Real ships
We’re not interested in gimmicks like zip wires, climbing walls or celebrity chefs. We don’t have boastful megaships. We take immense pride in our fleet of smaller-scaled vessels that retain the style, ambience and understated quality of a country house hotel.  We ensure they remain contemporary too: from winter 2016 to spring 2018 the whole fleet underwent dry dock refits to further enhance the facilities for guests. With the fifth generation Fred. Olsen as Chairman and 170 years of seafaring heritage behind us, we believe we’ve found the perfect formula for you to get the best out of your holiday with us.

Smaller but spacious
A smaller ship doesn’t mean less space; far from it. Each room is comfortably sized, with all that you’ll need to enjoy your holiday. In fact, our rooms are comparable to those on some of the mammoth cruise ships. While our vessels are on a more accessible scale, you can have just as much private space.  With fewer people on board it’s easy to find a quiet spot to relax in peace with a drink or a good book. There’s room to stretch out by the pool and you can get ashore more quickly too. And when you’re ashore, you’re seeing the best of each port of call with hundreds – not thousands – of others, giving you a much more authentic experience.

Service with a smile
Each member of the Fred. Olsen team has been carefully selected for their warm and welcoming personalities. The quality of our people, supported by training and development, ensures they will give you a great holiday: in guest feedback our staff are always the most highly-rated aspect of the whole experience.
