Malta boasts many impressive sights too. Valletta’s iconic, UNESCO-listed Grand Harbour is a sight to behold as you sail into the island’s enchanting capital. Once docked you could head into the city to see St John’s Cathedral and the Presidential Palace; or perhaps take tour to the medieval city of Mdina. The Spanish leg of your voyage begins at another picturesque Mediterranean island, Mallorca. Here you can explore Palma’s maze of delightful streets and squares; or even opt to visit the traditional village of Valledemossa. Then it’s on to Cartagena, where the medieval castle, Roman amphitheatre and Bateria de Castillitos feature high on the ‘must-visit’ list, before Malaga awaits. The diverse attractions of this Andalusian city include the Moorish-style Gibralfaro Castle and the Picasso Museum, a celebration of Pablo Picasso’s life and works. Granada, home of the magnificent Alhambra Palace, and the mountaintop 9th century city of Ronda are within reach on tour from Malaga too. Before finally heading home you’ll also make a call at the Portuguese port of Leixoes, for tours to the nearby Oporto – a city famed for its baroque architecture and port wine.
