The Cretan charm of picturesque Agios Nikolaos, which boasts interesting museums, striking Byzantine-era churches and stunning views of the beautiful Merabello Bay, is sure to delight, while the remarkable ancient sites Rhodes never fail to impress. Rhodes Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a treasure trove of historical highlights such as the Avenue of the Knights and imposing Palace of the Grand Masters; however a tour to Lindos is highly recommended to marvel at the famous ruins of Greek temples and the Crusader castle. At Syros, one of the lesser-known islands in the Cyclades, Braemar will dock just 200 metres from the centre of Ermoupoli, walking distance to the town’s cathedral, museums and galleries, restaurants and Ouzeries. The last of your four island calls is at Argostoli, Kefallonia, which, with its palm-lined promenade, stunning beaches and vibrant town, is the perfect place to make the most of the glorious Mediterranean sunshine. On the Greek mainland, an overnight stay in Patras affords time to explore one of Greece’s largest cities at your leisure, where highlights include the 6th century medieval castle and the striking Roman Odeum, which in fact pre-dates the Odeum in Athens. Katakolon, gateway to the world-renowned site of Olympia, offers tours to the home of the Olympic Games, though you could opt to visit the Mercouri vineyards and winery. The pièce de résistance is your memorable journey through the narrow Corinth Canal. Braemar is the longest ship to pass between the canal’s carefully carved cliffs; and you’ll be on board to enjoy every moment of this very special experience.

As if all that’s not enough, visits to attraction-packed destinations in Spain, Italy, Malta and Portugal are thrown in for good measure too. You’ll stop at Malaga to enjoy the sunshine of the Costa de Sol, and visit Valletta, one of the world’s most scenic cities. A call at Sicily and a scenic cruise by the Stromboli volcano makes for a rewarding taste of Italy; while vibrant Ibiza, the Roman city of Cartagena, Spain and Lisbon – Portugal’s capital will provide the perfect end to your holiday.

Refurbished in 2017, elegant Braemar is the shortest of Fred. Olsen's four smaller, friendly ocean-going cruise ships, with dimensions perfect for cruising picturesque, size-restricted rivers and docking in the heart of fascinating towns and cities.

Like the rest of the fleet, Braemar assumes the welcoming feel and intimacy of a country house hotel, and a sense of timeless style and elegance flows through the ship's comfortable bars and lounges, restaurants and spacious accommodation for up to 929 guests.

Real ships
We don’t have boastful megaships. We take immense pride in our fleet of smaller-scaled vessels that retain the style, ambience and understated quality of a country house hotel.  We ensure they remain contemporary too: from winter 2016 to spring 2018 the whole fleet underwent dry dock refits to further enhance the facilities for guests. With the fifth generation Fred. Olsen as Chairman and 170 years of seafaring heritage behind us, we believe we’ve found the perfect formula for you to get the best out of your holiday with us.

Smaller but spacious
A smaller ship doesn’t mean less space; far from it. Each room is comfortably sized, with all that you’ll need to enjoy your holiday. In fact, our rooms are comparable to those on some of the mammoth cruise ships. While our vessels are on a more accessible scale, you can have just as much private space.  With fewer people on board it’s easy to find a quiet spot to relax in peace with a drink or a good book. There’s room to stretch out by the pool and you can get ashore more quickly too. And when you’re ashore, you’re seeing the best of each port of call with hundreds – not thousands – of others, giving you a much more authentic experience.

Service with a smile
Each member of the Fred. Olsen team has been carefully selected for their warm and welcoming personalities. The quality of our people, supported by training and development, ensures they will give you a great holiday: in guest feedback our staff are always the most highly-rated aspect of the whole experience.
