Your short summer foray to France will be filled with lasting memories, from the moment your smaller ship diverts down the River Seine to the moment you depart your final port of call. [ReadMoreMob]You’ll experience a very special start to your journey, waking up to the Seine’s gorgeous scenes of green fields, rolling hills and spire-laden villages en route to Rouen. Once docked in Normandy’s regional capital for an extended stay, there’s plenty of time to head ashore to uncover the city’s highlights. Perhaps choose to delve into famous French history at Place du Vieux Marché, where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake, and behold the sight of architectural gems – such as the spectacular Gothic cathedral – on a rewarding walking tour. Alternatively, you could use your time here to tour to the Claude Monet’s beautiful house and gardens, or even to Paris for a chance to see the iconic landmarks of the romantic capital, such as the Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel Tower. Upon departure from Rouen, you’ll indulge in another dose of the River Seine’s uncanny serenity and breathtaking beauty, before Boudicca sails south to St Malo, on the beautiful Brittany coast. Once a fortified island, St Malo features a fascinating Old Town encased by imposing granite walls, and beautiful beaches perfect for making the most of the late spring sunshine. Take the day to explore; or perhaps tour to the dramatic island of Mont St Michel, an iconic spired abbey which towers over a fairytale-esque collection of narrow alleys, medieval fortifications and over 60 French National Heritage Sites. Returning to the Seine, a visit Honfleur – situated at the mouth of the river – is a fitting finale. You’re sure to feel inspired here, like so many famous painters and poets before you, as you wander the charming 16th century cobbled streets and see the eye-catching timber-fronted tall houses of the historic Vieux Bassin – a reminder of Normandy’s fascinating maritime past.
