The enchanting towns and volcanic sites of two captivating Cape Verde islands combine with the natural wonders of Tenerife, and Madeira’s beautifully floral landscapes, to present a plethora of diverse sights and experiences. What’s more, you’ll also be part of the ‘Four Fred.’s in Funchal’ event, joining guests and crews from Fred. Olsen’s entire fleet of ocean-going ships for an unforgettable day of fun and festivity in the Madeiran capital.

The historic Spanish city of La Coruña and Lisbon, Portugal’s vibrant capital city, make for rewarding stops as you sail south for your island-hopping adventure. La Coruña boasts attractions such as the ancient Tower of Hercules and Monte de San Pedro Park. It’s also your gateway to the awe-inspiring Santiago de Compostela cathedral. Lisbon is packed with highlights too; architectural treasures including Belém Tower and the Jerónimos Monastery harbour a rich maritime heritage. Boudicca will then proceed on to Madeira for the very special ‘Four Fred.’s in Funchal’ event. After docking alongside Balmoral, Black Watch and Braemar, you’ll can experience a memorable day of celebration, shared with the crews and fellow guests from all four ocean-going ships in the fleet. Enjoy live entertainment; tuck in to specially prepared menus; and even visit all three other ships during this simply unforgettable occasion. Away from the festivities, there are chances to uncover Madeira’s fragrant and flourishing gardens and unique levada walking trails. [ReadMore]

In Cape Verde, two distinctive destinations await. On the volcanic island of São Vicente you’ll never be too far from an authentic Cape Verdean experience; in Mindelo you’ll find colonial architecture, busy markets and friendly bars serving grogue, the national drink. In Praia, on Santiago Island, there’s an array of highlights to unearth, including the lively Municipal Market and the fascinating Archaeology Museum. You could even catch a performance of traditional Funana dance. Alternatively, opt for a tour to UNESCO-listed Cidade Velha, the first city built by Europeans in West Africa. Then in the Canaries, there’s Tenerife. Here you can visit the mysterious Pyramids of Güímar, marvel at magnificent Mount Teide – Spain’s highest peak – via cable car or simply relax and enjoy the sunshine at Playa de Las Americas. Santa Cruz is your gateway to these highlights and more. Vigo rounds off your holiday, complete with a charming Old Quarter and picturesque bay to explore in the spring sunshine.

Real ships
We don’t have boastful megaships. We take immense pride in our fleet of smaller-scaled vessels that retain the style, ambience and understated quality of a country house hotel.  We ensure they remain contemporary too: from winter 2016 to spring 2018 the whole fleet underwent dry dock refits to further enhance the facilities for guests. With the fifth generation Fred. Olsen as Chairman and 170 years of seafaring heritage behind us, we believe we’ve found the perfect formula for you to get the best out of your holiday with us.

Smaller but spacious
A smaller ship doesn’t mean less space; far from it. Each room is comfortably sized, with all that you’ll need to enjoy your holiday. In fact, our rooms are comparable to those on some of the mammoth cruise ships. While our vessels are on a more accessible scale, you can have just as much private space.  With fewer people on board it’s easy to find a quiet spot to relax in peace with a drink or a good book. There’s room to stretch out by the pool and you can get ashore more quickly too. And when you’re ashore, you’re seeing the best of each port of call with hundreds – not thousands – of others, giving you a much more authentic experience.

Service with a smile
Each member of the Fred. Olsen team has been carefully selected for their warm and welcoming personalities. The quality of our people, supported by training and development, ensures they will give you a great holiday: in guest feedback our staff are always the most highly-rated aspect of the whole experience.

Named after the British warrior Queen, Boudicca has built up a loyal following, combining style and space with the renowned personal Fred. Olsen service.
