The Olsen Way Highlights

This voyage into the Arctic offers the opportunity to explore beyond the tourist trail. In Svalbard, you’ll gain a greater insight into local cultures and traditions of remote settlements found off the beaten track, and have the opportunity to see reindeer and Arctic foxes. You will also witness the natural phenomenon – the Midnight Sun. En route to Iceland, the land of fire and ice, we have planned a special diversion passed the remote volcanic island of Jan Mayen. There will also be opportunities to spot whales in their natural habitat.

Highlights

Dolphin spotted from on board

Marine life spotting with ORCA

As we explore the Arctic, conservationists from wildlife charity ORCA will be on board delivering talks on the marine life which can be seen from Bolette, as well as leading wildlife spotting sessions out on deck. The nutrient-rich waters of the Arctic are home to species such as Blue, Humpback, Fin, Beluga and Minke whales.

Jan Mayen, Norway viewed from the sea

Volcanic landscapes

Iceland is well known for being home to erupting geysers and impressive waterfalls, but we’ve also planned a diversion to sail past the remote volcanic island of Jan Mayen. Located on the southern edge of the Arctic Ocean between Iceland and Spitsbergen, this inhospitable island has craggy cliff faces, pebble-covered beaches and Beerenberg - the world’s most northernmost subaerial active volcano.

Godafoss waterfall, Iceland

Waterfall of the Gods

Situated at the end of Eyjafjordur, Godafoss Waterfall is known as the ‘Waterfall of the Gods’. One of Iceland’s oldest and biggest waterfalls, Godafoss is fed by the Skjálfandafljót River, beginning at a lava field from 7000 years ago; and flowing over a horseshoe-shaped rock that seems to spilt the waterfall in two.
