With Borealis taking you away from well-trodden tourist routes, you’ll get to encounter the wild, untamed landscapes and wonders of remote regions in Greenland and Iceland.[ReadMoreMob] On your Greenlandic adventure, special diversions into Prins Christiansund – rated Fred. Olsen guests’ best scenic cruising experience – are made, to witness soaring mountains and weave between glistening glaciers, and a rare visit to Narsarsuaq is a certain highlight. From here, you can take a boat tour of Qooroq ice fjord and see icebergs up-close, hear their echoing creaks and pops, and breathe in the fjord’s cool, fresh air. Enjoy an evening of scenic cruising through Tunugdlliarfik Fjord’s unspolit landscapes too, and enjoy a taste of authentic culture and Norse history at Nanortalik.

In Iceland, a visit to Akureyri is a chance to tour to the the Godadoss ‘Waterfall of the Gods’ and tranquil Lake Mývatn. For an experience of a lifetime, join a boat tour seeking out humpback and minke whales, dolphins and porpoises by boat living freely in the surrounding waters. Wild wonders also await you from Reykjavik; the capital is your gateway to discovering Gullfoss Waterfall and gushing Geysir hot springs and marvelling at their natural power. You’ll get to savour scenes of towering mountains and colourful houses at Seyðisfjörður too, while journeys into Eyjafjörður, past pretty Hrísey and by Borgarfjordur Eystri – home to a large population of elves, according to local folklore – will make for unforgettable scenic cruising experiences. What's more, with the help and guidance of ORCA conservationists who'll join on board for your adventure, you may get to spot whales whilst out to sea, learn of their nature and play a part in assisting with their conservation.

In recent years, we have seen a new era emerging in cruising.

There is a trend for everything to get bigger and busier, and for a cruise to be seen as an alternative to a large luxury resort, with a limitless flurry of activity. But this is not for us. Find out more

1. WE ARE PROUD TO SAIL OUR OWN COURSE

We are free to do things a different way because we are family-run. Of course some people enjoy the bigger, busier cruises, but it is not for everyone, and it is not for us. We prefer to do things, 'The Olsen Way'.

2. SMALLER IS BETTER

We have fewer guests, so the atmosphere on board our ships is always warm and civilised. Our smaller ships allow us to visit the more interesting places that the world has to offer.

3. HAND-CRAFTED, NOT MASS PRODUCED

We pride ourselves on putting our all into the Fred. Olsen cruise experience. Our itineraries are created from scratch every year, our service is genuinely personal and each and every area of our ships is designed by hand.

Borealis, like her sister ship Bolette, has capacity for less than 1,400 guests but is larger in overall size than the other vessels in the Fred. Olsen fleet. This means when you come on board for a memorable cruise holiday, to relax and enjoy a premium level of comfort – as well as our renowned personal service – in the elegant public areas, lounges, bars and dining venues, you have even more space in which to do so.

With its warm, welcoming atmosphere and timeless style, and classic open deck spaces providing a place to fully immerse yourself in the magic of ocean cruising, Borealis is very much in keeping with what our guests have come to expect from a Fred. Olsen ship.
