You could climb the Harbour Bridge and marvel at the instantly recognisable Opera House; or even visit Bondi Beach to revel in one of Australia’s most photographed scenes. A call at Burnie follows, for a rare chance to explore a Tasmanian gem revered for its arts, culture, vibrancy and beautiful beachfront, before Melbourne awaits with its range of architectural styles and must-visit attractions, such as the Royal Botanic Gardens and Melbourne Zoo. Up next is Albany, providing a fascinating insight into Australian history and an opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Australia’s first European settlers, with visits to the replica of Brig Amity, the Albany Gaol and Patrick Taylor Cottage. Continuing onwards to Asia, the diverse island scenes of Indonesia – the world’s largest archipelagic country – await your discovery. Two days of exploration on Java Island will present a picture book of contrasting sights and experiences. A visit to Surabaya affords an opportunity to delight in the city’s mix of modern skyscrapers and Dutch-style canals and colonial buildings; and explore the Arab Quarter and one of Asia’s largest Chinatown districts, while Semarang is the starting point for tours to the sensational, UNESCO-listed Borbodur Temple, surrounded by stunning volcanic landscapes. There’s also a call at Weh Island, boasting jungle smothered interiors that are ripe for exploration, inviting white sands and warm, clear waters alive with marine creatures, such as manta rays, whales and dolphins. In between your Indonesian island explorations, spectacular Singapore, a city of soaring cityscapes, bright lights, busy commercial districts and striking temples, offers an exciting change of pace. An overnight stay allows time to take in the sights, visit the gorgeous Gardens by the Bay, enjoy High Tea at the famous Raffles Hotel, and much more.

Real ships
We don’t have boastful megaships. We take immense pride in our fleet of smaller-scaled vessels that retain the style, ambience and understated quality of a country house hotel.  We ensure they remain contemporary too: from winter 2016 to spring 2018 the whole fleet underwent dry dock refits to further enhance the facilities for guests. With the fifth generation Fred. Olsen as Chairman and 170 years of seafaring heritage behind us, we believe we’ve found the perfect formula for you to get the best out of your holiday with us.

Smaller but spacious
A smaller ship doesn’t mean less space; far from it. Each room is comfortably sized, with all that you’ll need to enjoy your holiday. In fact, our rooms are comparable to those on some of the mammoth cruise ships. While our vessels are on a more accessible scale, you can have just as much private space.  With fewer people on board it’s easy to find a quiet spot to relax in peace with a drink or a good book. There’s room to stretch out by the pool and you can get ashore more quickly too. And when you’re ashore, you’re seeing the best of each port of call with hundreds – not thousands – of others, giving you a much more authentic experience.

Service with a smile
Each member of the Fred. Olsen team has been carefully selected for their warm and welcoming personalities. The quality of our people, supported by training and development, ensures they will give you a great holiday: in guest feedback our staff are always the most highly-rated aspect of the whole experience.

Black Watch is the ultimate home-from-home at sea: spacious with a friendly, familiar feel and providing a traditional cruise experience. Refurbished at the end of 2016, the 804-guest Black Watch features stylish new décor, fittings and furniture, plus the new Black Watch Room restaurant.

What's more, new soft furnishing, smart TVs and mini-bars enhance the accommodation on board, while the cinema has been upgraded too. Despite all these new features, Black Watch still retains her sleek, intimate style and has a welcoming ambience - just like the rest of the Fred. Olsen fleet.
