A collection of breathtaking destinations in Montenegro, Croatia, Italy and Slovenia will be revealed as you cruise the Adriatic on board Black Watch, presenting a plethora of authentic experiences. Chances to admire stunning scenery, explore postcard-perfect cities packed with highlights, and uncover a few lesser-known gems; this incredible cruise has it all.

Your Adriatic exploration promises to be simply unforgettable from beginning to end. A spectacular sail into the Montenegrin city of Kotor via the beautiful Bay of Kotor will ensure a memorable welcome to the region. Once docked, you could wander into Kotor’s town centre to see fine examples of Romanesque architecture; or perhaps tour to Perast, a Baroque town renowned for its pretty islets. Then it’s on to Hvar, Queen of Croatia’s Dalmatian Islands, where the sight of golden beaches, pretty lagoons and terracotta-topped architecture beckons you ashore to explore. Attractions such as the 13th century Fortica Fortress and towering St Stephen Cathedral await you here. Black Watch will then divert to the iconic Italian city of Venice, sailing the magical Laguna Veneta en route. Within Venice’s maze of canals, squares and ancient streets lie impressive monuments such as the 14th century Doge’s Palace and St Mark’s Basilica, and you’ll have an opportunity to take them all in at your leisure. Don’t miss the chance to explore the Venice’s waterways via gondola too. [ReadMore]

In Slovenia you’ll encounter the impressive Roman architecture and ancient relics of charming Zadar, such as St Anastasia Cathedral and the unique Sea Organ, before your ship returns to Croatia to bring your Adriatic adventures to a close. An overnight stay in Split affords you time to discover many must-visit sites tucked away within this Roman city’s historic walls, such as the ruins of the magnificent Diocletian’s Palace. The UNESCO-listed medieval city of Trogir and beautiful Krka National Park – home of the spectacular Skradinski Buk waterfall – are within reach on tours from Split too. Dubrovnik – the Pearl of the Adriatic – is the perfect place to end your time in this incredible part of the world. Take time here to explore the city’s ancient walls and marvel at the majestic churches, palaces and monasteries. You could even take a ride on the cable car to see the city from a different perspective.

En route to and from the Adriatic, your ship will guide you to attraction-packed destinations in Spain, Greece, Malta and Portugal too. You’ll call at Cádiz, Palma de Mallorca and Kerkira first, for historical highlights and fine scenery galore; and, as you head for home, stop at the enchanting city of Valletta, discover the Andalusian delights of Malaga and call into Leixoes, for tours to Oporto.

Black Watch is the ultimate home-from-home at sea: spacious with a friendly, familiar feel and providing a traditional cruise experience. Refurbished at the end of 2016, the 804-guest Black Watch features stylish new décor, fittings and furniture, plus the new Black Watch Room restaurant.

What's more, new soft furnishing, smart TVs and mini-bars enhance the accommodation on board, while the cinema has been upgraded too. Despite all these new features, Black Watch still retains her sleek, intimate style and has a welcoming ambience - just like the rest of the Fred. Olsen fleet.

Real ships
We’re not interested in gimmicks like zip wires, climbing walls or celebrity chefs. We don’t have boastful megaships. We take immense pride in our fleet of smaller-scaled vessels that retain the style, ambience and understated quality of a country house hotel.  We ensure they remain contemporary too: from winter 2016 to spring 2018 the whole fleet underwent dry dock refits to further enhance the facilities for guests. With the fifth generation Fred. Olsen as Chairman and 170 years of seafaring heritage behind us, we believe we’ve found the perfect formula for you to get the best out of your holiday with us.

Smaller but spacious
A smaller ship doesn’t mean less space; far from it. Each room is comfortably sized, with all that you’ll need to enjoy your holiday. In fact, our rooms are comparable to those on some of the mammoth cruise ships. While our vessels are on a more accessible scale, you can have just as much private space.  With fewer people on board it’s easy to find a quiet spot to relax in peace with a drink or a good book. There’s room to stretch out by the pool and you can get ashore more quickly too. And when you’re ashore, you’re seeing the best of each port of call with hundreds – not thousands – of others, giving you a much more authentic experience.

Service with a smile
Each member of the Fred. Olsen team has been carefully selected for their warm and welcoming personalities. The quality of our people, supported by training and development, ensures they will give you a great holiday: in guest feedback our staff are always the most highly-rated aspect of the whole experience.
