Cruising the Seine
Whether you have never sailed with Fred. Olsen before and want to experience the benefits of a cruising on board a smaller, more intimate ship, or are a regular guest looking for a short, relaxing break away from it all, this is the perfect getaway.
Your rewarding long weekend away begins with a short overnight sail from Southampton to France, where Braemar will dock first in the beautiful city of Rouen. With plenty of time to explore the quaint, narrow streets lined with charming half-timbered houses, you can take in the city’s smorgasbord of historic highlights and cultural delights at your leisure. Don’t miss the incredible Gothic-style Cathédrale de Notre Dame, the 14th century Gros Horloge and Place du Vieux Marché, where Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake. Alternatively you might prefer to journey to Paris – the romantic French capital – and see the world-famous landmarks of the 'City of Lights', including the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, in the evening. After a two-night stay Braemar will depart Rouen in the afternoon and head back along the beautiful River Seine en route to Honfleur. Be sure to take your place on deck as your ship negotiates the winding meanders of the river and enjoy unspoilt views of the gorgeous, lush-green French countryside and pretty communes dotted along the riverbanks. Once docked in Honfleur an overnight stay will afford you time to wander the café-lined 16th century cobbled streets, see St Catherine’s Church and take in the pretty fishing harbour. Or perhaps you'll choose to embark on an engrossing tour to the iconic Norman city of Bayeux. Here you can visit the William the Conqueror Centre and marvel at the world-famous Bayeux Tapestry.
