Whether you have never sailed with Fred. Olsen before and want to experience the benefits of a cruising on board a smaller, more intimate ship, or are a regular guests looking for a short, relaxing break away from it all, this is the perfect getaway.

Your rewarding late summer escape to France begins with a short overnight sail from Dover to Honfleur, the first of two charming cities awaiting your exploration. A full day here affords time to wander the pretty, 16th century cobbled streets at your leisure in search of eye-catching architectural delights such as St Catherine’s Church – France’s largest timber church – and friendly cafés serving a range of tempting local treats. No visit is complete without visiting the Vieux Bassin district too, as the enchanting old harbour offers a fascinating glimpse into Normandy’s maritime past. Away from Honfleur there’s also the opportunity to embark on a tour to the Norman city of Bayeux, where you can see the iconic Bayeux Tapestry at the William the Conqueror Centre. [ReadMore]

Then it’s on to Rouen in the heart of Normandy, where the quaint, narrow streets lined with pretty half-timbered houses and a smorgasbord of historic highlights will beckon you ashore. You can uncover tales of Joan of Arc at Place du Vieux Marché, where the ‘Heroine of France’ was burnt at the stake in 1431; and visit the spectacular Cathédrale de Notre Dame, which houses the tomb of Richard the Lionheart’s heart. Alternatively you could tour to Claude Monet House and explore the colourful gardens that inspired the legendary painter’s work, ‘Water Lilies’; or head to Paris and see the iconic landmarks in all their illuminated glory on a romantic evening tour of the capital. Finally Boudicca will depart Rouen and head for home via the beautiful River Seine. Be sure to take your place on deck as your ship negotiates the winding meanders of the river and enjoy unspoilt views of the gorgeous, lush-green French countryside and pretty communes dotted along the riverbanks.
