Spellbinding natural wonders and breathtaking destinations await your discovery as smaller-sized Braemar diverts away from Norway’s well-travelled coastal routes and sails straight into the heart of the fjordland via stunning, size-restricted waterways. With the delights of a collection of spectacular fjords, charming villages and attractive cities to uncover, you’re in for a memorable holiday.

First your ship will stop at Stavanger, from where you can take a scenic boat tour to beautiful Lysefjord. Opt to join this exhilarating experience and you’ll enjoy a fantastic introduction to the outstanding natural beauty of the fjords, taking in rugged scenes from the glass-like waters. Alternatively, if you prefer, you could choose to stay in Stavanger and discover the attractions of the former ‘European Capital of Culture’. The historic Gamla Stavanger district, the Canning Museum and Norway’s fourth largest shopping mall are particular highlights. In pretty Eidfjord there are plenty of unforgettable experiences to choose from. Perhaps you’ll take a tour to see the Vøringsfossen – one of Norway’s most famous waterfalls – in all its tumbling glory; or visit the Hardangervidda Nature Centre for a fascinating insight into Norwegian nature. Back on board Braemar you’ll depart Eidfjord via Hardangerfjord, ‘Queen of the Fjords’, for a wonderful few hours of scenic cruising. [ReadMore]

Deep within Nordfjord you’ll call at another of the fjordland’s most picturesque villages, Olden. While enjoying a relaxing stroll through the village is a great way to spend a couple of hours, you may be tempted by chances to go in search of the astonishing Briksdal Glacier or the gorgeous Lovatnet Lake; both of these scenic treasures can be discovered on tours from Olden. A scenic cruise back along Nordfjord will bring sloping green mountains and dramatic cliffs into view, before a sail by Hornelen presents views of Europe’s highest sea cliff. Then the beautiful city of Bergen is the final stop on your itinerary. Attractions here include the famous, UNESCO-listed Bryggen Wharf, the traditional fish market and the interesting Troldhaugen Museum. The views on offer from the top of Mount Fløyen – reached via the funicular railway – are not-to-be-missed too. For a mesmerising finale to your cruise Braemar will head down Lysefjord before sailing back to you UK, offering you one last opportunity to capture the wondrous natural beauty of this remarkable part of the world.

Refurbished in 2017, elegant Braemar is the shortest of Fred. Olsen's four smaller, friendly ocean-going cruise ships, with dimensions perfect for cruising picturesque, size-restricted rivers and docking in the heart of fascinating towns and cities.

Like the rest of the fleet, Braemar assumes the welcoming feel and intimacy of a country house hotel, and a sense of timeless style and elegance flows through the ship's comfortable bars and lounges, restaurants and spacious accommodation for up to 929 guests.

Real ships
We’re not interested in gimmicks like zip wires, climbing walls or celebrity chefs. We don’t have boastful megaships. We take immense pride in our fleet of smaller-scaled vessels that retain the style, ambience and understated quality of a country house hotel.  We ensure they remain contemporary too: from winter 2016 to spring 2018 the whole fleet underwent dry dock refits to further enhance the facilities for guests. With the fifth generation Fred. Olsen as Chairman and 170 years of seafaring heritage behind us, we believe we’ve found the perfect formula for you to get the best out of your holiday with us.

Smaller but spacious
A smaller ship doesn’t mean less space; far from it. Each room is comfortably sized, with all that you’ll need to enjoy your holiday. In fact, our rooms are comparable to those on some of the mammoth cruise ships. While our vessels are on a more accessible scale, you can have just as much private space.  With fewer people on board it’s easy to find a quiet spot to relax in peace with a drink or a good book. There’s room to stretch out by the pool and you can get ashore more quickly too. And when you’re ashore, you’re seeing the best of each port of call with hundreds – not thousands – of others, giving you a much more authentic experience.

Service with a smile
Each member of the Fred. Olsen team has been carefully selected for their warm and welcoming personalities. The quality of our people, supported by training and development, ensures they will give you a great holiday: in guest feedback our staff are always the most highly-rated aspect of the whole experience.
