As you cruise from Liverpool to mainland Europe’s northernmost point and back via a string of remarkable Norwegian destinations, you’ll uncover spectacular scenic landscapes and breathtaking wonders. Cruising by magnificent mountains, discovering dramatic islands, crossing the Arctic Circle and witnessing the magical Midnight Sun are just a few of the outstanding experiences on this incredible voyage.

On your journey to the awe-inspiring Arctic north, Black Watch will stop-off at Trondheim to present you with the eclectic attractions Norway’s original Viking capital. The Gothic-style Nidaros Cathedral and colourful houses of the Bakklandet district are among many gems awaiting you here. Relaxing scenic cruising follows, sailing through picturesque Nærøysundet, by the majestic Torghatten and Seven Sisters Mountains, and across the Arctic Circle en route to the beautiful Lofoten Islands, ranked third on National Geographic’s list of the best islands to visit. Visiting Leknes offers you the chance to immerse yourself in Lofoten’s rich Viking history, or explore the islands’ landscapes in search of wild, untamed scenes, bright-white sandy beaches and arctic wildlife. Then it’s on to Tromsø, ‘Gateway to the Arctic’. Here you can visit the iceberg-shaped Arctic Cathedral, one of Northern Norway’s most iconic sites; or perhaps meet curious huskies at the Wilderness Centre. The spellbinding coastal views on offer from atop Mount Storsteinen are not-to-be-missed too. [ReadMore]

Honningsvåg, framed by rugged mountains and the Arctic Ocean, awaits you at the ‘top of Europe’. From here the unspoilt, rocky landscapes of the North Cape plateau, where thousands of reindeer graze in the summer months, are yours to explore on exhilarating adventure tours. Alternatively, you could opt to visit the North Cape Visitor Centre for a fascinating insight into life in the Arctic Circle before joining Black Watch again to cruise by the North Cape and The Horn, and to experience the phenomenal Midnight Sun from the comfort of your ship. As you finally head back south, Alta will then appear on your horizon. Stopping at this enchanting town offers you the chance to immerse yourself in Sami culture and visit the Alta Museum to marvel at the prehistoric, UNESCO-listed rock carvings of Hjemmeluft. Finally, a relaxing day of sailing brings you to Kristiansund, a historic maritime city comprising four islands atop a breathtaking harbour, where you can marvel at the old town's remarkable architecture before beginning the voyage home.

Single supplement offers are available on selected grades on this sailing, please call for details.

Black Watch is the ultimate home-from-home at sea: spacious with a friendly, familiar feel and providing a traditional cruise experience. Refurbished at the end of 2016, the 804-guest Black Watch features stylish new décor, fittings and furniture, plus the new Black Watch Room restaurant.

What's more, new soft furnishing, smart TVs and mini-bars enhance the accommodation on board, while the cinema has been upgraded too. Despite all these new features, Black Watch still retains her sleek, intimate style and has a welcoming ambience - just like the rest of the Fred. Olsen fleet.

Real ships
We don’t have boastful megaships. We take immense pride in our fleet of smaller-scaled vessels that retain the style, ambience and understated quality of a country house hotel.  We ensure they remain contemporary too: from winter 2016 to spring 2018 the whole fleet underwent dry dock refits to further enhance the facilities for guests. With the fifth generation Fred. Olsen as Chairman and 170 years of seafaring heritage behind us, we believe we’ve found the perfect formula for you to get the best out of your holiday with us.

Smaller but spacious
A smaller ship doesn’t mean less space; far from it. Each room is comfortably sized, with all that you’ll need to enjoy your holiday. In fact, our rooms are comparable to those on some of the mammoth cruise ships. While our vessels are on a more accessible scale, you can have just as much private space.  With fewer people on board it’s easy to find a quiet spot to relax in peace with a drink or a good book. There’s room to stretch out by the pool and you can get ashore more quickly too. And when you’re ashore, you’re seeing the best of each port of call with hundreds – not thousands – of others, giving you a much more authentic experience.

Service with a smile
Each member of the Fred. Olsen team has been carefully selected for their warm and welcoming personalities. The quality of our people, supported by training and development, ensures they will give you a great holiday: in guest feedback our staff are always the most highly-rated aspect of the whole experience.
