Black Watch will be festooned with traditional Christmas decorations for your cruise, so you’re sure to feel full of festive spirit from the moment your embark your ship in Southampton, though the festivities will really kick into gear as you sail south. Celebrating Christmas at sea will be an unforgettable experience; a relaxing Christmas Eve is followed by the fun, excitement and delicious food of the ‘big day’, all of which can be enjoyed with friends, family and fellow guests as Fred. Olsen’s friendly, attentive staff take care of everything. On Boxing Day you’ll arrive at Madeira, for an overnight stay in Funchal. Exploring fragrant botanical gardens, such as the Monte Palace Tropical Garden, and the extensive scenic walking trails here is a great way to work-off your Christmas indulgences, although you may be tempted into experiencing an evening of authentic Madeiran food, drink and entertainment.

The following three days in the Canaries can be as restful or as energetic as you like. Visiting Las Palmas for another overnight stop affords you an opportunity to make the most of Gran Canaria’s renowned winter warmth. Perhaps you’ll opt to head to Maspalomas, where stretches of golden, palm-lined sands are primed for hours of relaxation; or venture into the beautiful Agaete Valley. In Tenerife, make the most of your extended stay in Santa Cruz to discover your pick of a wealth of incredible attractions. You have the chance to delve into the mysteries of the Pyramids of Güímar; indulge in a day of sunbathing at Playa de Las Americas; or even see magnificent Mount Teide, towering over Tenerife’s vast volcanic landscapes. You could head to Teide – Spain’s highest peak – at night for an incredible stargazing experience, too. That’s not all though, as your ship will be docked at Santa Cruz until late in the evening on New Year’s Eve, you’ll see in 2020 in style with Tenerife’s fantastic New Year’s celebrations. Finally, as you head for home, it’s on the Portuguese mainland for a rewarding day in Lisbon.

Black Watch is the ultimate home-from-home at sea: spacious with a friendly, familiar feel and providing a traditional cruise experience. Refurbished at the end of 2016, the 804-guest Black Watch features stylish new décor, fittings and furniture, plus the new Black Watch Room restaurant.

What's more, new soft furnishing, smart TVs and mini-bars enhance the accommodation on board, while the cinema has been upgraded too. Despite all these new features, Black Watch still retains her sleek, intimate style and has a welcoming ambience - just like the rest of the Fred. Olsen fleet.
